iPhone Notifications 101
If you have an iPhone with Apple's 3.0 software upgrade, you have the ability to receive what Apple calls "notifications". Foursquare uses these notifications to let you know when your friends have checked-in.
These messages look like this...
We all have That Friend that likes to overshare, which is why we added tools that allow you to turn off messages from certain users. Like this:
You can also find these switches on this site under "my friends".
We also understand that sometimes you may not want to get any messages from foursquare. You can turn off messages just for today/tonight or turn them off altogether. Like this:
Don't feel bad turning them off as you can always turn them back on when you're done with dinner / out of the movies / back from vacation / etc...
(if you turn them off just for the night, we'll automatically turn them back on for you the next morning)
