Chad Keavy: Super cool old-school theater. Tickets $2-$3 and concession stand is cheap compared to the multiplexes. Oh, even though it's a retro-look the screen, sound, and seats are new.

City Pages: Voted Best Movie Theater by City Pages in 2010. No one can believe regular tickets are still only $2 for the 2nd run of blockbusters, smaller Hollywood efforts, and the occasional documentary.

Lisa Grimm: Another great indie theater in Minneapolis. I don't love the location or the theater, but film selection can't be beat.
Jeremy Lebens: Second best theater for independent cinema in Minneapolis, right behind the Landmark Uptown. Has uncomfortable and tightly spaced seats. Arrive early for a good seat.

HISTORY: The theater opened in 1963 with a production of Hamlet directed by Sir Tyrone Guthrie, the theater's founder. It was created to host performances that were removed from the atmosphere of Broadway.
