- Vika KSeptember 15, 2015Every good day starts with Tartine's bread pudding. It's magical. Also don't miss the morning bun (sugary goodness with a little orange flavor) and the perfect croissants. Just get one of everything.Upvoted 1 week ago
- Marisa LownApril 7, 2016Lemon tart oh lemon tart, you were amazing. Pair with a Counter Culture cold brew, it's a match made in pastry+coffee heaven!
- Danielle L.August 1, 2016The morning buns and the lemon tart were perfect! Completely worth the wait. The brownies also make for a nice little gift.
- Ece Irem ArslanSeptember 11, 2016Although people are going crazy over the Banana Cream Pie, the unsung hero is the Coconut Cream Pie. Best pie I've ever had! And everything else is amazing too.
- Yes there's a wait but what awaits you inside is the absolute best that any bakery, anywhere, any time of day has to offer. In particular, if they have the fresh berry tart, you're in luck!!
- Wejdan ✨December 15, 2014Everything in tartine is insane. So incredibly good! Specially the bread pudding and the coconut cream pie. Here you can't go wrong with anything.
- Mike WinstonSeptember 4, 2018These pastries really are some of the best in the world. Don't miss their outstanding Morning Bun and Frangipane Croissant. WinstonWanders.com
- Nathan RaySeptember 13, 2018Complaining about a French bakery not offering more vegan items is kinda like bitching that your local adult shoppe doesn't carry your favorite version of the bible.
- Rochelle McCuneJuly 10, 2017Over-hyped bakery. Loooong lines. Crowded. It's almost impossible to get a table. Very good pastries in a town with a lot of excellent bakeries.
- BommyJanuary 16, 2016Line is long but moves quicker than you'd think. Currant buttermilk scone is AMAZING; they use 2x the butter and cream so obvi it'll be light and crumbly. Muesli is hearty and worth trying!
- Shagun AulakhNovember 6, 2014Everything is amazing. The bread pudding is delish with fresh, seasonal fruit. Chocolate pudding so rich and yummy, makes you just want to smack someone!! Go in the evening to avoid long lines.
- Sherry RenJuly 28, 2015Banana cream tart is bomb! Chocolate hazelnut tart is a bit dry. The frangipani croissant tastes great but don't like the mushy texture in side. Quiche is incredible! Eclair is very rich in cream
- BommyFebruary 22, 2015Almond-lemon tea cake, mexican wedding cookie, walnut butter cookie, hazelnut biscotti, shortbread, and almond rocher are good. Pass on the hazelnut chocolate tart; it's like a too intense brownie.
- Yas AbJuly 5, 2016The tres leches cake was gone in an instant from how fluffy and light it is.. But the real star is the banana cream tart. The BEST I've ever had. Flaky crust, flavorful filling, perfect texture.
- Ashley MowreyMarch 2, 2015Come at 430 and get fresh baked bread. Any panini is amazing, fantastic, truly masterworks of the sa which biz, and they're huge. Who doesn't like huge pieces of masterworks.
- This is one of most touristy spots in Mission Dolores b/c the desserts are amazing. But everytime I go, I end up regretting getting it bc the portion is huge and very sweet.Need to learn to share:)
- Melanie MaddoxAugust 23, 2016Don't be afraid of the line, it's worth the wait! We tried a little of everything - but the tarts and cookies were delicious. The Gruyere bread was perfect for those more interested in a savory treat!
- Anton GaddiAugust 28, 2019My most favorite is the bread pudding with fruit with just the right amount of sweetness. The bread pudding was sold out yesterday so I had the fruit tart (photo) instead.
- Kourosh BehnamSeptember 15, 2016There is a new Tartine on Alabama street. More options for food and seating. They have a bar, pastry, brunch. Buffalo milk ice cream and dinner coming soon
- Eat everything. Morning buns, croissants, and breeding pudding of course, but the sandwiches and savory pastries with ham and cheese, too.
- RosalineNovember 7, 2015Expect an hour wait to get to the counter but so worth it. Ham and cheese croissant is hearty, warm, buttery and so flaky. Morning bun is so subtly hinted w orange. Everything we tried was delightful
- Jennifer AndersonApril 7, 2014Order your sandwich to go and eat at Mission Dolores Park for some excellent SF people watching. Better than being smooshed into a communal table. Also, save room for ice cream at Bi-Rite Creamery.
- Keep meaning to try the recommendations but I keep getting distracted by everything else! LOVE the "gougére", the perfect savory snack. Must try all of the desserts. ALL OF THEM. 😋
- Elaine CourtneyJuly 3, 2014Best bakery ever! If there's one thing you get, it's their croissant - sooo fluffy and crisp! And those chocolate-based cakes - simply beyond scrumptious. Do yourself a favor and eat something here.
- Lauren MacMay 9, 2016Best carbs on the West Coast, arguably in the US. Famous for morning buns, snag a baguette after 3:30pm if you can!
- Nadia TurchettaDecember 29, 2016Bread, croque monsieur and morning bun are delicious!!!!. Desserts were underwhelming. We tried 5 different desserts and didn't love any of them. Definitely worth the visit for the bread!!!
- Pick up an amazing loaf of bread to eat all week. They come out fresh at 4:30 PM every day.
- Greg TanAugust 3, 2018Everything here is amazing. Go early if you want the almond croissant (we missed out!) that everyone talks about. The Croque Madame and Frangipane are both phenomenal.
- Kristen StokesMay 22, 2013Tartine is so cute and busy! But way worth the wait for their morning buns! If you don't know what to get, get a morning bun AT LEAST! Loved it! When I visit again, I'll be back here!
- Efrén Fernández AbeledoNovember 1, 2017Best bakery I've been in the USA, no doubt. They have superb almond croissants, which you can pair with delicious coffee. A must visit if you are in the area.
- Zi WangDecember 1, 2015The Coconut Cream Tart must have come out of an angel's bakery because it was heaven. PHENOMENAL. The bread pudding on the other hand tasted like ****. Oh yeah, the Money Picked Oolong tea is WOW.
- Best bakery in the Bay Area, hands down. Always a line and it's always worth waiting for. Morning bun, pain au jambon, pain au chocolate, croque monsieur are all excellent.
- Buy a half loaf of sesame bread and go for a walk with a friend. Rip off chunks of bread while you walk and eat the whole thing before you get home.Upvoted 4 weeks ago
- TC Emir SamancıJanuary 15, 2017Rating is exaggerated. Their breads (with different toppings) are definitely tasty. Still, the deserts have too much sugar and fat in it. The coconut macarones were too dry (inside & outside).
- Alan KwongJanuary 6, 2017Everything is stellar, but if you want a good start, the croissant is distinctly perfect, and a loaf of country bread is the definition of good artisinal bread
- The Gruyere gougère is crisp and soft and delicious. Their standard croissant is near perfect. And try the lemon cream tart instead of the popular bread and butter pudding
- LeVan GreeneJune 30, 2015My first time here the line was out the door. All desserts looked incredibly I decided on the brioche bread pudding delicious!
- Laura BarnesMarch 30, 2016I went on a weekday so the line wasn't long. The pastries are wonderful, ambiance is life affirming, and staff are warm and welcoming.
- I love this place! There's always a line out the door, but it's worth the wait. The bread pudding and the croque monsieur are my favorite items. So delicious!
- Sophie ParksJune 23, 2015Definitely the seasonal fruit bread pudding (even if you don't like bread pudding!) and the eclair. The quiche was delicious, too!
- Aly OradyDecember 28, 2014The Rochers are often overlooked, but not to be underestimated. The most affordable item at the bakery they are sweet little treats, crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. Chocolate Nib...
- Tablet HotelsFebruary 26, 2013The long line outside is worth it for their scrumptious dishes, mostly made with organic ingredients. The three cheese sandwich oozes with goodness, and the brioche bread pudding is simply delectable.
- Food NetworkAugust 4, 2014While the basic concept is simple, the perfect pain au chocolat is a work of art, and Tartine's version is so popular that the bakery sells 400 of them each day. Read more
