This is a relatively well known one: On Fridays the MoMA is free in the afternoons and has extended hours (8p or 9p I believe). This was started as a corporation with Target. Yay! (March 20, 2009)

The MoMA is regularly closed on Tuesdays. However, every now and then they open on a Tuesday as an exception - and then it is nice and empty. moma.org/calendar lists those days. (March 20, 2009)
