- Mike M.March 6, 2015If you were ever unsure about vaccinations, a quick stroll through this place will change your mind. Forget the Amazon, there are undiscovered diseases in these bathrooms.Upvoted Feb 14
- Will HarahanAugust 9, 2018Once notorious for being the last place you’d want to use the restroom, it’s now the cleanest place in the entire facility.Upvoted 2 weeks ago
- Meghan KathleenJuly 17, 2010There is a free shuttle bus to the IKEA in Elizabeth, NJ located at gate 5 on the lower level at the Academy Bus Line. It leaves every half hour between 10:00 & 2:00 on the weekends.Upvoted 2 weeks ago
- For those of you who have never experienced PABT, you must have your ticket/pass purchased before you board. No cash is taken on out-bound buses.
- T SDecember 15, 2018It's the bus station that take you out of New York, very good and organized but take care from thefts.
- The automated terminals needs upgrading & service more often to relieve lines. Get rid of the homeless situation, better lighting and cleanliness would be a great start for a better grimes commute!
- Judah RichardsonNovember 19, 2012If you're coming here from NJ and need to get back without spending the night in NYC, make sure you do that before 1:50 AM, because the next bus after that is at 6 AM or later
- Mare LealOctober 19, 2018Super organizado e prático. Fui ao terminal para ir até o The Mills Outlet em New Jersey. Próximo da Times Square. Enjoy it!
- Rohith CSDecember 23, 2018It's huge. Always crowded but organized. Be sure to arrive at the station early to avoid long queues at the respective gates to board the buses.
- Steve MartotanaSeptember 29, 2010Little known fact: The exterior design of the Port Authority building was originally intended as a lunar colony module; to support extended space missions and eventually, to colonize the moon.
- Christian RiosNovember 10, 2013"Oh, bus is full? No problem, well get another one. A half hour later. Enjoy your cab ride home!"
- Paige CApril 17, 2017The most unorganized and hectic place for any kind of transportation. Good luck buying a ticket, asking for help or finding your bus. Everything is on a different floor/wing.
- If trying move quickly from the below street level portion of the terminal, use the elevator located at the end of the lower level!
- Know this (ESPECIALLY) if you're vacationing in New York: Whatever bus line you ride, BUY YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE. Folks commute in from at least 3 states (NY, NJ & PA) every day to go to work.
- Gajtana SimonovskaAugust 8, 2016Better than it used to be. Leave extra time to get your ticket and to your gate. Get your ticket online if you can. Come early to make sure you get a seat.
- Secret food stash for late night munchies: left of the escalator, 2nd floor above Au Bon Pain is a little shop that sells maad varieties of beef patties - pretty good for the price for the bus home
- This is a great aviary. They have the most beautiful species of pigeons flying around.
- Do not get info from plain clothed individuals, they are NOT helping you out of the kindness of their heart. Information booth ALWAYS has the right information.
- As of August 2018, the bathrooms here are BEAUTIFUL. This is not the port authority of olden days.
- Be prepared to wait on a long line at rush hour (perhaps even one long enough to prevent you from seeing your gate). Remember, there's no RUSHing during rush hour; just a bunch of PO'ed people! ;)
- Kevin LuDecember 4, 2012If you've never been here, it will be the challenge of your life figuring out the correct terminal. The matter complicates even more during late night, when all the terminals are relocated.
- Wen Seng LieSeptember 10, 2015I used to work 2 block from Port Authority and I miss the crowd. You can get lost because everyone moves so fast. This place is packed with nice establishments. Either for conveniences or fun
- Theodore KimNovember 24, 2015Few things to note here: It's a zoo at rush hour so purchase your ticket upon arrival of at all possible. ... There are no ticket kiosks at some gates, so buy yours at the first one you see.
- RachelFebruary 23, 2013The Lakeland people are the best! Know what route, time, and gate every bus is. If your stop is on an express bus, they'll let you know that too and point you to the right line :)
- Welcome to the armpit of new York city. Here you will find everything that a regular armpit offers (hairy, foul stench, every nationality) and bonus! Bird shirt. Shower necessary after visit.
- If u plan on catching a bus b/t 12:30 and 1:00 a.m., verify with your route if the bus is lving from the 3rd or 4th floors or from the lower lvl. Any bus scheduled to lv after 1:01 a.m WILL LV fr LL.Upvoted Jan 18
- transiTALK Transportation Media GroupJanuary 28, 2011From Academy Bus to Trans-Bridge Lines, the Port Authority Bus Terminal is the nerve center of bus travel to and from New York City. Buy a ticket and explore outside the city limits!
- Lots of places to go from here! Lots of eateries inside the terminal and some shopping (not great).
- Mike LazzaroFebruary 28, 2019Use the NJT app for Tix. It’s easy and you don’t have to wait on any lines at the tix machine.
- Regarding GATE 79 (the 126 Hoboken departure gate from 1-2:00 a.m.) - you NEED to check the gate regularly to see if your bus is on the gate. Drivers @ that time don't let u know they're on the gate.Upvoted Jan 19
- MacAnn's on the second level has a decent beer selection and is fairly quiet. Grab a drink before you hop on your bus-- it'll make for a more pleasant ride. :)
- Anna HebbelSeptember 9, 2014The bus to NY picks you up by the Doylestown train station. You have to buy your ticket at the tobacco store in Doylestown. Very convenient!
- You can always take the short set of stairs instead of funneling down or up the escalator if you're in a rush, look behind the wall no one uses them so much faster!
- The main bus terminal of NYC. Now has WiFi and electronic signage to help you find the right bus to take without the need to ask the ticketing booths.
- Alex AnderJune 2, 2017The upstairs is good. Thank goodness there is a Starbucks. Watch out for CRACK heads trying to get tips because the bus screens never have updated info 😜
- prince campbellJuly 12, 2014If you go upstairs there are tons of electrical outlets where you can charge your phone. There are in the right side section 42nd street side.
- Ask the ticket agent for advice before arriving to your gate if you're riding on Coach's Red&Tan line - dispatchers are limited and disinterested!!
- Oz AriciFebruary 29, 2012I highly advice that you buy your tickets from the ticket booths right across Jamba Juice because those ticket machines are hard to use if you don't know where you are going
- Kimbert SylvNovember 7, 2021Love it service is good looks of areas to shop and eat. In the heart of Times Square
- ZazéonMay 16, 2011It is hell on a Yankees game day, but outside of that Port Authority is an efficient hub of transportation. Never use a car, especially when you are taking the NJT four to five days a week!
- Coach's Red&Tan bus lines will accept cash but please be reasonable!! Anything over $20 will cause a delay in boarding and you will probably have to wait a while for change.
- A hot, sad mess. Lines wrap around everywhere, no one is nice, everyone hollers, and not one knows what they're doing. Finding your gate is like being a mouse in a maze.
- If trying to beat NYC foot & traveling traffic, use the taxi stand on 9th Avenue & West 42nd Street - there isn't typically a wait for a taxi!
- You know you're here too often when you arrive the next morning and the homeless man you saw sleeping across from Gate 322 the night before hasn't awoken yet.
- Gates 51-56 is the hidden secret commuter transportation. A lot of ways to get to and fro NJ-NY
- Haley JonesSeptember 29, 2012Ask the guy at the ticket window which gate to go to. Your ticket most likely won't say... And they wont tell you automatically because that would be good customer service. Which they don't do here.
