The Driskill is a historic classic boutique hotel of Austin. Lots of variations in the rooms but the Brazos suite was perfect. The large balcony overlooking 6th street and the live music made the stay

Request room 535 if its available or any of the corner rooms facing 6th street. You won't regret it. Then, look out for the friendly ghost! :)

They say it's haunted. I say it's super classy. Totally recommended. The only 'but' is that they don't have a swimming pool, which in Texas summer should be almost mandatory.

The 7 course wine pairing was awesome! Celebrated a belated anniversary and made us feel at home. Meal was exquisite and wine took it home. If you're in the area, this is a must!

Perfect for wedding receptions, company parties, or just brunch on a Sunday morning. The best thing about this place? Word has it that Room 429 (amongst others) is haunted!

Opened in 1886, this is the oldest operating hotel in Austin. Legend has it the original owner, cattle baron Jesse Driskill, lost the hotel to his brother in law in a poker game in 1888.

Tin ceilings. Cast iron statues. Crossed pistols. Glass done ceilings. And when you get to the bar, Rachel, I recommend a bourbon and elder flower liquor. It's sweet, but delicious!

This is the granddaddy of luxury hotels in Austin. Located right at Sixth Street and Congress Avenue, the Driskill has been showing off the best side of Austin since 1886.

Texas Sized Hospitality. Sets the standard for elegance & offers a restaurant, bakery, piano bar and GHOSTS. Budget travelers, this is NOT your scene. But sometimes you just gotta go for it!

Beautiful lobby but rooms falling apart. Nicks and scratches and just feels old. No water glasses provided in room. Took three calls to get a Housekeeping request.

The Driskell Bar makes me swoon (when it's not SXSW mobbed). Great live music. Revolver light fixtures. Killer bartenders. (And don't miss the cupcakes sneakily for sale at the bar)

They say this lovely Texas landmark is haunted. Me? I don’t believe in ghosts, and I had a lengthy debate about this very topic with a rather opaque visitor one autumn night in room 319.

Here's a tip for the Driskill. Serve some decent top shelf in the venue. This JimBeam only crap only degrades your once impeccable name. If it is sponsorship then tell SXSW to kissyourass!

Don't count on the Foursquare check-in special about a pineapple-jalapeño soda. They've been out of ingredients for it.
