Always my go to for large, rowdy, group dinners - perfect before a night out. Cheap, yummy mexican food and pitchers on pitchers on pitchers of margaritas and sangria!

All you can eat on Monday nights – check with your server, because sometimes Patron margaritas are the same price as house margaritas. Save yourself a hangover.

Excellent spot for work lunch. Fajitas are the best (comes with free margarita) ask for giant sombrero hat! (Don't try to leave with it =o[. )

Monday Night: $4 Margaritas and complimentary chips/salsa (upstairs bar); All you can eat Mexican $11.99 (restaurant). This spot is tacky in the most wonderful way.

The happy hour prices went up recently. It went from $4 per drink to $5. But always a fun night. Get there early, get a table, listen to some good music and DANCE

Skip the food and go straight to the second floor for the all night Happy Hours on Monday and Thursdays where you can dance to Bachata and Salsa – the crowd is a bit older.

The bar/party floor is good. But good drinks, super crowded by 6pm, good music. If you are looking to drink and dance early it's a good after work spot.

Good people watching by the window. I had mussels& shrimps which was good. My friend ordered arroz con pollo and was highly disappointed. Sangria was good!

Food is great but the portions are big - try not to make the same mistake I once made by eating too many chips before the meal. Those chips are damn good though.. maybe I'll just have one more.

Highly recommend this place for the margaritas. Order a couple pitchers with dinner and stick around long enough and the friendly staff just might bring out a round of tequila shots on the house

It's a dive bar. Nothing's really *good.* But $6 margs and free food at happy hour is solid. The restaurant side of things isn't really good.

Amazingly strong margaritas, also a bar upstairs. Great guac and delish food! They usually bring a free round over if you buy a drink or two. (We prefer the pitchers.)

the food is always good (if not great) but the best thing about el cantinero is the service. the guys here are fantastic. I've not known another place in the city so accomodating aa el can't.

The watermelon margarita is very tasty, and it sure gets the job done! If you have to work the next day, stick to only one.

The worse Mexican food we've had in a while. Both my fiancé and I had a bite of our dishes and returned the rest. The margarita tasted of cheap syrupy mix and cheap tequila. Staff was nice though.

Really think this place is overrated. The prices are very reasonable however the food was tasteless and drinks watered down. They sit you pretty quickly, however the staff is lacking personality!

food is horrible, lacks authentic mexican spices but compensates with cheap drinks part of there happy hour. Avoid this place on Fridays and Saturdays; it turns; into a mini club and becomes overrated
