It has become a commercial thing, and i'm pretty sure there are best options in NY, but it is a must go place. You need to experience the crowd, and sit with a view of the street, it is fun.

Not the place you want to go to shop for every day groceries, but when you're craving an awesome sandwich, coffee, or a (Doughnut Plant) doughnut, this is where you want to be.

Sandwich line too long? Head to the charcuterie counter and look for the salami / prosciutto sandwiches ready to go. $7, cheaper than a bottle of water in this here place! Add cheese for a buck.

The sun dried tomato penne with olives is one my favorites here. The sushi is another good (well priced) lunch option (all the way in the back).
