Everyone knows U St. for Ethiopian, but that doesn't mean there aren't great places off the strip. Meskerem is a DC classic that beats plenty of the more well-known joins on U.

Great Lamb, amazing mother and child, spicy and delicious tomato salad, but the lentils were a little cold and undercooked. I'd definitely come back, though.

Fun atmosphere and great food! The sampler platter is a ton of food and lets you try a little bit of everything.

Get the Ethiopian Stout. I always get the imported 'local' beer when eating out at these exotic places and this beer was hands-down the best I've had.

This was marginal Ethiopian food. Even with the Scoutmob 50% off it was not worth it. Food was very bland, vegetable were over cooked and the injera had no flavor. This was very disappointing.

First & last visit. Save your money & make your way to Etete on U street or Ethiopic on H street or any of the others for that matter. Placed was dirty & food was mediocre. Service C+.

Avoid this place unless you like the tourist version of Ethiopian food. U Street is a better bet.
