The very cool Whip In boasts specialty beers, obscure wines, locally packaged gourmet foodstuffs, and a cafe menu that's a bricolage of Indian, African, European, and American flavors. Read more

I think the Whip In is my favorite place in all of Austin. The Whip In has over 70 beers on tap, there is live music every night of the week, and the food is a spectacular fusion of TX-meets-Indian. Read more

One of my favorite places in Austin. If you like good Indian-fusion food, awesome beer and wine, and a sophisticated dive bar atmosphere, this is your place. I can never leave ATX without a stop here.

Great draft craft beer selection and a good vegetarian food selection. Ambiance is very relaxed and you can buy bottles of craft beer to take home.

The chana masala is deliciously spicy! Also the hand cut spicy fries are always hot and crisp. HUGE selection of beer and wines to pair with your meal, or just to sip alone on a hot Austin day.

Try the Shakahari Burger. It's an interesting but delicious tempeh burger with fried paneer and Indian chili aioli. Great option for vegetarians!

Convenience store, pub, restaurant and music venue! That's a lot of things to juggle and they do it all so well. But watch out, they will charge you a $1 PER beer you buy and consume on the premises.

Great beer, food and a super laid-back, cool vibe! Good show this weekend as noted to the right, with Frederick, Tahoma and Madeline Jennings.

Friendly staff, pretty incredible beer selection. Midnight closing kind of kills the buzz. Wish they stayed open later. "Last call" at 11:45 comes right when most people are hitting their stride.

The Silly Cheesesteak Panaani is where the quesadilla, roti roll, and cheesesteak intersect—and how could you go wrong with that?

Whip In's own Namaste: Shiva Stout was amazing! Had the goat sliders, which were awesome but for two tiny bite size sliders, I thought the $9 price tag was high.

The convenience store/liquor store/Indian restaurant combo is odd, but that's what makes it quintessentially Austin. The naan sandwiches are what earned it a place on our list. [Eater 38 Member] Read more
