- Avi FlamholzDecember 16, 2012Love love love this place. One of the few remnants of old Little Italy. Excellent mozzarella, soppressata, prosciutto, etc. Really nice people, too. Only caveat - the olives are only OK.
- Rian O'SheaSeptember 22, 2016I had the sausage with peppers hero at San Genero. Best sausage with peppers sandwich I ever had!!! I will absolutely be back. Tony Danza was there cleaning the grill and was a true gentleman!

- Buford BarnesMay 30, 2012Established 1892. Continuously family owned. Oldest Little Italy cheese shop. Original tiled walls and tin ceiling. Painted glass signs advertising "Burro e Uova" and "Latticini di Nostra Produzione."
- Serious EatsJuly 9, 2013Italian specialty goods, imported cheese, and some hefty sandwiches. Aim for ones with homemade mozzarella or ricotta.
- the most authentic, stupendous prosciutto this side of the atlantic. order half a pound (*thinly* sliced) and eat it from the paper package while walking down the street.
- Emily WilsonJanuary 28, 2016The Italian sub is huge. It's also really good, but only order it if you can handle a whole lot of meat.
- Wendy QiuMarch 11, 2015Italian subs are massive and generously filled with cold cuts, however it needed more hot peppers/oil. Also I asked for sharp provolone and they wouldn't let me substitute it for the sandwich.
- Sandwiches do big I eat half for lunch and half for my 4pm snack. Try San Danielle prosciutto + mozzarella. And then grab some alla Calce olives.
- BettyOctober 11, 2013If you can't decide, give the Sopressata a try. Only choice to make: sweet or spicy!

- Matthew PantojaAugust 17, 2010Although the "go-to" in the area is Parisi, there are a few old school spots like Alleva that make great, reasonably priced Italian combo sandwiches and specialties
- Get one of the older guys to make your sandwich - they are the masters.
- I really dont want to share these, but their prosciutto balls are amazing at 3 for two bucks
- Yesbelt FernandezMarch 1, 2011The pepperoni from Alleva is great! Just like the kind on Lomardi's pizza. Much better than that hormel stuff.
- The Italian Combo is an amazing sandwich - also get some rice balls heated up
- Matthew BreuerJune 15, 2019v legit! I’m not sure anyone should be eating like this regularly though!
- Justin KalifowitzOctober 6, 2011One of my favorite lunch spots. $7.75 for a hero that can easily feed 2.
- Prosciutto, roasted red peppers, and mozzarella on a hero. If you didn't order this, you screwed up.
- my spot for lunch when I'm working from home (rotate between any of their four basic sandwiches)
