$7 Tuesdays for students (or for people that were smart enough to hang on to their student IDs). Also-- see a movie in theater #1. It's one of the most beautiful movie theaters you'll sit in.
Originally opened in 1926, the space has in its long history housed everything from vaudeville to off-Broadway. Their gorgeous main theater will often show whatever the biggest seller of the week is. Read more
All shows before noon are $8. Also $8 on Tuesdays for students, all day. Limited selection of films but usually have a few good ones out. I love going on weekend mornings.
One of my favorite film theaters in NYC, it has the friendliest staff and always has a mix of foreign/independent with box office draws. Please support this theater!
Great little theatre. Usually not terribly crowded, and tends to show indie movies and documentaries as well as mainstream fare. Plus, the largest screen is old fashioned and lovely.
Not the most modern or comfortable theater, but they do have an amazing roster of movies that are not part of the mainstream. And it’s very clean and the prices are slightly cheaper.
The theaters upstairs are stunning, though in need of new seats. Arrive early enough to find comfortable ones and to make sure your view is not obstructed by the railing.
If the movie's not in theater one, turn away. This place is one nice screen and 10 screens slightly larger than a big screen TV. Can't wait for this place to be torn down.
The main auditorium is a converted legitimate house, and is one of the few places in New York to feel like an old-time cinema. See whatever you can here, because every film feels like an event.
