A pioneer of the local locavore movement, Eastside Cafe has long been a byword for quality dining. The large herb and vegetable garden in back makes for fantastic fresh plates.

This East side spot features their own vegetables, herbs and flowers as much as possible — and has been doing so for the almost the past 30 years. A great place to take your parents. [Eater 38 Member] Read more

“Several of my all-time favorite pasta dishes come from East Side Café. I suggest the smoked salmon ravioli or any pasta special they have for the day.” says Tina Poe, of the Me and Mister Bee blog.

Fresh & Delicious food! One of our favorite dinner spots in Austin. Need I say more? You should also request Taylor as your server, she's awesome.

If you leave without eating the meatloaf, ask yourself why you even got out of bed this morning. DO IT!

The food here is always fresh and delicious but can be a little pricey. If you're pinching pennies grab a blue plate special or a bowl of soup.

Hands down, without doubt, the best place to eat in Austin. With all the veggies grown right out back, and amazing recipes to boot, you can't beat Eastside.

Eñchilada and bugers for the veggies. Amazing! Fries and pickles. Key lime has the best crust I've ever tasted.

Lots of great food from their onsite garden. Also, if the acorn squash is available, don't hesitate to get it. It's the cat's pajamas.

Try the Roasted Meatloaf With Bacon Tomato Sauce And Broccoli With Lemon Butter - Excellent dish. The sauce makes it for sure!!!

The farm is literally a step from the table at this longtime favorite. Choose a spot in the garden room near the new henhouse, which provides eggs for the "yard egg" French toast.

If you're considering getting anything vaguely Mexican, I definitely wouldn't. The rice and beans were woefully under seasoned, and the main dish is covered in sauce to cover up the food.

Drive by to check out the owners HausBar Farms (about a five minute drive away), and there you will see where the real majority of the eggs and produce come from.

The food was fine. Too much whipped cream on the Belgian waffle for my taste. The major drawback was waiting for the food and then the check. If you're not in a hurry, things will be fine.
