- This is such a great hotel to stay, eat or party.. The survivors of the Titanic stayed here, Coco Rocha was here yesterday, there is a stuffed monkey behind the front desk.. What more can you ask for?
- Kajsa BengtsonSeptember 29, 2015Yes the rooms a tiny but still the atmosphere is so worth it! The bathrooms are clean and most people living here are friendly when you meet them in the corridor!
- ArtNerdNewYorkMay 6, 2012The Jane is a maritime themed budget hotel with great décor. Patrons stay in cruise ship style rooms, as the building was originally built in 1908 as a hotel for sailors. Survivors of the Titantic... Read more
- Kate HartmanApril 29, 2014Pro tip: there are a few rooms in the mix situated on a diagonal wall which takes a chunk out of the foot end of the bed. If you get one of these ask to switch. You'll be able roll over a lot easier!
- Untapped CitiesJuly 2, 2013Once the American Seaman's Institute, it later housed Titanic survivors during the inquisition. It is now a whimsical spot that harkens back to the days of passenger liners and seafaring voyages.
- Quirky but super cool hotel in the West Village. Choose a Captains Cabin and be warned the lobby bar is a hipster club at weekends but you don't get disturbed in the rooms.
- PaulineFebruary 17, 2014Good value in the heart of hipster town! If you want a quick fix breakfast, head down to Chelsea Market for some baked goodies and a cup of coffee.
- Kate HartmanApril 29, 2014With plump bathrobes, smart storage space, and primo room service, The Jane makes cabin living feel as cushy as it can get. Affordably priced and right by the Highline, Hudson, and West Village.
- SarahNovember 1, 2021Pretty cool place, great location. Clean and has a lot of character. If you need a later check-out time, they'll try to accommodate you - they let us have until 1pm to check-out.
- Lauren MacAugust 23, 2015Sweaty dancing in the dark -- super fun if you're looking for this kind of night! Dress to impress (the bouncers). The hotel itself is historic (titanic survivors came here), & don't miss Cafe Gitane.
- Jonathan LawrieApril 24, 2014If on a budget it is great. But phone reception is rubbish, although there is free wi-fi. Staff dressed like they work on Disney's Tower of Terror ride. Makes it fun.
- Kearbey RobinsonAugust 20, 2015Came in on red eye and they let us check in at 7 am and the subsequent power nap saved the day. Additionally, room was super cool and staff was really nice.
- Nice, modestly priced hotel. The Captain's suite is a smartly decorated room with a spacious bathroom. AC didn't work very well. Don't miss the roof terrace!
- LeleDecember 3, 2019In a world of “modern” hotels, The Jane truly captures a true historic and hospitable vibe, and it does it well.
- Kasey El-ChayebMarch 13, 2014If you're in NYC on a budget, the Jane is for you. The rooms are tiny but clean and adequate. Shared bathrooms but they're actually nice. Staff is very friendly and the hotel is beautiful.
- Amos ElbergOctober 20, 2013was fantastic when it was hard to get into-now crowded with banker-types (and the little girls who love them) who don't understand that the dj is being ironic. Every club must fade-sigh ...
- Lara ZDecember 16, 2015Electric fireplace makes this a fun winter spot. Don't miss the upstairs bar, with a fab view of the main downstairs space.
- BollareSeptember 30, 2011Chic bohemian vibe, great music, and boys who don’t speak English — what more could you ask for? Go on a Thursday night for the scene or on a Monday night for a free movie screening! —Marina
- Untapped CitiesAugust 13, 2012The Jane Hotel used to be the American Seamen’s Friend Society Sailor’s Home and Institute, serving as a hotel for sailors, and in 1912, it housed the survivors of the Titanic. Read more
- CompassJuly 24, 2013You might mistake the comfy couches and grand fireplace for living room props until you see well-dressed guests dancing atop the coffee tables and armchairs
- IrmaZandl ZandlSlantApril 12, 2016BEAUTIFUL bar / not sure what it's like later in the evening but early it's great.
- Travel ChannelNovember 15, 2011“If you’re not a big pimpin’ oligarch and looking for more affordable accommodations, the recently restored Jane Hotel in the West Village might be more in your zone.” – Anthony Bourdain.
- Wouldn’t recommend. Very basic facilities & service is extremely limited; more bothered about the ‘trendy’ guests in the lobby than those paying for rooms. Rooms basic (like a haunted house).
- Marcus JAugust 3, 2011Inexpensive hotel, makes feel you feel welcome as if you were at an expensive hotel. Green friendly on electricity, lovely staff :)
- BollareNovember 28, 2012Chic bohemian vibe and great music. Go on a Thursday night for the scene or on a Monday night for a free movie screening!
- Cecilia FrankelApril 2, 2015You don't need to leave. Live there, eat at Gitane and go clubbing in the weekends. Fridays better than saturdays.
- Love the Jane: the music, the people, the drinks, dancing and fun! The Jane has it all
- Nice and comfortable hotel for the price except that is VERY loud. You can hear everything going on outside. The windows need to be soundproofed ASAP.
- Tim HuberFebruary 11, 2017Great spot for dancing and drinks. Huge plus is that they let you dance on the couches !!
- Archie WaltersSeptember 29, 2012Sewer system went nuts. Piss and shit all over the floor. Did not make for an enjoyable ending to my night but the bartenders were all cool and I made due. Would go back when I can walk around freely
- Yaz MusNovember 23, 2014Try the Milano Green Vodka martini 🍸 and you'll be dancing on tables in no time
- Riqui LawrenceSeptember 2, 2013Unique Boutique Hotel. Reminicent of Pullman cars w/sleeping berths. Small but comfortable.
- Beautiful historic hotel with friendly, helpful staff and clean rooms. Cafe Gitane has an authentic French feel, but is overpriced. Absolutely love this place!
- ChristinaJune 15, 2013An out of control house party in your rich friend's mansion. Drunk preppy girls dance on tables and the popular crowd surveys it all from the balcony.
- My favourite budget stopover in NYC. Even if you don't stop, drop by the ballroom for drinks on a night out.
- Lauren BrubakerDecember 11, 2011Robert at the check-in desk is funny & always has a smile. Ask for an extra blanket in winter. Rooms can get cold at night.
- EzgiAugust 6, 2016Plays top 40, however way too crowded. Definitely a fire hazard. Better places to dance if that's what you're really looking for.
- Bugra CelikOctober 23, 2013Real fireplace + real vintage + nice bar. Better for predrink before a meatpacking nightout
- BlackBook MagazineNovember 30, 2012Where artsiness trumps comfort. Stay the night or book the ballroom like Hannah’s rival Tally did for her book launch. No one seems to like Tally very much so it must be about that ballroom. Read more
- Megan McBrayerSeptember 1, 2013Saturday night's oldies and current music fusion DJ list will make you want to dance until your feet go numb!
- Jason SchwartzJanuary 20, 2010When you walk in head all the way to the right to get to the hidden cocktail bar. Grabs drink with a friend or two in the intimate setting. 60 person capacity space.
- Excellent place to go dance till 4am, the DJ is always top-notch and the crowd is always energetic
- Pamela TOctober 15, 2011Good Luck getting in the "BALL" Room--u need the right look or the "right" something to gain entrance. I could have sworn I saw Biggie Small there ; )
