- Jenna SchofieldJanuary 27, 2015Food is upscale pub food, great beer list, knowledgeable barkeeps, good music and TVs to watch a game. Every seat is full and they say it's not even busy. The arancini are delish!
- Sofia PapastamelosFebruary 18, 2019This place has a lot of really great brews on tap in a variety of styles. Get a full pint or a tasting glass if you want to try a couple types.
- Can't go wrong with the mouthwatering Brat Burger topped with beer-braised sauerkraut, and emmentaler with a side of fries.
- Can't beat the delicious Disco Fries with cheddar cheese and sausage gravy.
- Churchkey is the benchmark of brewpub in DC. Sitting above the restaurant Birch and Barley, Churchkey host as many of 55 new and unique beer per week. The number of barkeeps shows this is important.
- If you aren't sure what kind of beer to get, just ask the bartenders. They are great at helping to find something you'll like, and will usually give you a splash before you commit to full pour
- Y.Arman BarlasMarch 15, 2017They always have a great list of rotating beers on tap covering all tastes. Such an extensive beer list, bottles, can, craft and draft.
- Thaís SoaresAugust 15, 2019Kind and knowledgeable staff that can help you navigate the beer menu. Tater tots were delicious. The place has a winter-ish vibe - too dark and with few available tables if you want to sit outside.
- DoubleDeuceFebruary 29, 2016Serious connoisseurs ask for the beer booklet. It contains the secret beers! They also smartly have a good menu with more than just traditional pub fare including tasty flatbreads and more.
- Knowledgeable staff if you're not sure how to navigate the massive beer menu. Really crowded on the weekend, come during the week if you want to have a conversation over a delicious beer.
- EpicuriousAugust 3, 2014With so many beers on offer, Bailey couldn't possibly settle on just one wing dish, so he created three homemade sauces for his semolina-crusted, twice-fried wings. Read more
- Trevor MMay 20, 2015Great atmosphere and very large bar space. This place was crowded on a Tuesday which is a great sign. The Asian wings were tasty but had too much sauce. Awesome beer selection!
- Dan MoneyOctober 18, 2019Fantastic in every way. Tartare, pate and pastas were all excellent. Beer menu is incredible (and even bigger upstairs). Awesome bartenders and staff. Love it
- Cole TJune 14, 2017Beer selection is INSANE! Dimly lit and relaxing vibe inside (upstairs from Birch and Barley). Food is good too. My favorite beer bar, period. Always a stop when in DC.
- Everything here is the best. Always. But watch out for Friday and Saturday nights. It's standing room only and totally rough. Check out Drafting Table up the street if you're looking for more space.
- Chris FredericksAugust 14, 2014Love sitting at the hightop tables near the windows in the afternoon when the sunshine is streaming in. The selection of draft beers and knowledge of the staff is incomparable.
- Washington PostMarch 2, 2013Mac and cheese sticks are: cooled overnight, cut info 3-1/4-inch-by-1-inch bricks, coated with garlic-infused panko bread crumbs, fired and served with a sweet tomato relish. Read more
- Alex RavenelFebruary 4, 2016Massive number of excellent beers, some of them very rare--including, the day I was there, Rothaus Pils. Only the second place in US I have seen with that beer.
- Robin BertelsOctober 13, 2015That beer selection! Where to start? Fortunately all beers on tap can be ordered in 4oz tasters, so you can sample a wider variety of different beers.
- Sam LeeSeptember 12, 2017Impressive number of taps, but you have to go with the cask ales. This place is an experience for beer lovers.
- Nathan HartmannJune 18, 2015Definitely one of my favorite spots in DC. Great for a casual night. Despite how packed it gets, it's usually quite easy to grab a drink from the bar tenders
- Serious EatsAugust 9, 2013Great food paired with a fantastic, extensive beer selection. Tide over your wait downstairs by going up to ChurchKey's beer bar.
- natalie kayApril 18, 2016Excellent selection of beers. Mac and cheese sticks are great to share and the homemade smores are spot on!
- Yes. Just yes. Amazing beer selection, fantastic bar staff--friendly and always ready with a recommendation. (Although really, how could you go wrong with such a finely curated selection?)
- Arminda KlierAugust 21, 2013Really great beer selection divided into easy-to-skim categories. If you can't pick just one, go for the option to get 4oz beer flights. Plus the disco fries were delicious!
- Lily JungJuly 7, 2016Good beer selection. It changes daily. The food menu on the foursquare site isn't the same. IT is best to check the website.
- Travel + LeisureJanuary 4, 2013An upstairs/downstairs, beer-focused restaurant and gastropub. At Birch & Barley, order the cavatelli and flounder tartare; at Church Key, Tater Tots and charcuterie.
- Kimberly A.February 27, 2014The small plates are delicious: meatballs on a bed of lentils, all of the flatbreads, the tater tots taste like fried balls of mashed potatoes! HEAVEN!
- Y.Arman BarlasMarch 15, 2017They always have a great list of rotating beers on tap covering all tastes.
- Must try the Mac & Cheese Sticks made with garlic breadcrumbs and served with tomato relish.
- Local bar with a SUPERB beer selection. Great menu and fun cheese plate selection as well!
- Island BruinJune 13, 2015They have a large tap list- 20+ the night we were there. But they were almost all from two breweries- one in Michigan and one in Florida. I was hoping for local
- Connie HaroDecember 9, 2015Best bartenders in the entire city! Super friendly and great people to talk to.
- It kinda goes without saying... this is the best place to drink beer in DC. Take advantage of the staff's knowledge and try as many new brews as you can!
- Mark SchroederJanuary 22, 2014Front window seating upstairs was great but a little drafty. Great beer selections and a nice and helpful staff. Food was decent and fairly priced.
- Amelia FriedmanSeptember 1, 2015The bartenders know their shit. Tell them what your favorite beer is, and they'll get you something amazing. You can also order 4 oz drinks so you can taste them all.
- Ben DruckerDecember 12, 2014Insane beer selection including a bunch of gluten free beers. All three popular varieties of Green's and a lot of others.
- Greg BrownJune 30, 2017Beer, of course! Enough to suit all styles and preferences....try one of the flatbreads for a nice pairing.
- Sophia HJuly 22, 2017Fantastic stouts! Mala Vida Bourbon (brewed by Montseny) is amazing, very chocolatey and silky-smooth.
- Frank RimalovskiJanuary 21, 2012Awesome, I mean awesome tap beer (~50) selection, cool bar scene with good food to boot. Strongly recommend when in DC. (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
- TrevorDecember 4, 2015Wonderful selection of beers of all types, available in small and regular sizes. Gets extremely busy early in the evening.
- Ask for Eddy. She'll take care of you and she's got opinions on beers that are honest and awesome.
- Bitches Who BrunchDecember 24, 2011Bitches say B! While Churchkey is our fave spot for beers, bar food, and even dessert, we’d suggest you opt for Birch & Barley over its upstairs neighbor for brunch.
- With rare exceptions, the best beer list in the city. Also a great place for tots.
- ChrisJanuary 26, 2014Try the secret Luther burger (breaded chicken and bacon between glazed donut buns) not listed on the menu. Available only Sundays for lunch!
- Rob PitingoloFebruary 19, 2013The seating situation is a complete clusterfuck. If you're lucky enough to drink your beer sitting down, guard that seat with all your life.
- Get there early to snag a table (seat yourself). Cheeseboards have tiny portions: opt for flatbread or mac 'n' cheese sticks. S'mores Brownie is insane, and Oliver's Bishop's Indulgence is money!
