The special exhibitions are always worth seeing. But don't forget about the permanent exhibitions, there always great art to see in them and they're free!

I wished I had more time here and will go back the next time I am in Sydney. We paid extra for the Archibald, Wynn and Sulman exhibit and was well worth it. Do it!

Just as Melbourne's cool, ordered NGV exemplifies its city, Sydney's AFNSW is a bewildering clusterf*ck of architectural styles. Dig deep for a wonderfully diverse collection: Wednesday is late night

Restaurant on the Mezzanine level (NE corner) provides excellent views across the Harbour and The Wharf. Hidden gem. Menu is pretty good value and food generally good quality.

Pop to Popism is on now. It's rather a small exhibition range but giving good idea of the overall feeling of pop culture.
