There's cell service here, which is nice. And a little pro tip: if you catch the Brooklyn-bound Q here it's usually not crazy crowded.

About 70 colorful mosaics of life-size figures blowing party horns and wearing party hats like the revelers in Times Square's New Year's Eve celebration comprise the subway permanent art installation

Big crazy underground web.. But one of the most useful stations in nyc. In rain/snow/cold you can cover a lot of ground without times square crowds or traffic lights. Plenty of wells Fargo atms.

The (S) is a remnant of the first subway, which ran up the east side from City Hall (today's 4,5,6), then across town (shuttle), and then up the west side (1,2,3)!

If you want the A/C/E -- get it from Port Authority. Otherwise you'll be walking all the way (back) there in horrendous underground conditions to catch your train.
