Good Airport! Dont take any taxi to come here.. There is a wonderful Bus (Onibus) which starts more or less from Barra, through Vidigal, Ipanema, Copacabana, Flamengo, Porto and arrives here! 9 Real!

James Bond lands here in Moonraker (1979). Legend has it Roger Moore was late to shooting and had just enough time for hair and make-up before shooting his arrival again, this time as James Bond.

Nice airport with automated boarding pass scanners, good duty free shopping options. Spacious, clean, and with bright design.

Taxi to Barra da Tijuca is quite expensive, R$ 135 (special price, before it was R$ 185). Choose Transcootour instead of the common RJ's yellow cabs. They worth every Real.

The main airport of Rio! about 20km from the center, it's nothing special, you would expect much more development for this old international airport, but at least there's free wifi, belezaaa!

With renovations all over, it's not always clear where to go, and to ask for directions can take a while since not everyone speak english, and the ones who do are not always kind. Be patient.

Based on my experience and a general internet search, it is likely that the row of atms you find on arrivals contain skimmers. I personally used the ones on the left hand side.

Wear your walking shoes if you arrive on an international flight. It's a long trek to passport control and customs.

The VIP lounges are really far from the gates, even though the signs for the gates are right by the lounges. Don’t be deceived...you have to keep walking and walking as you follow the signs.

Best Transportation: Air-conditioned Real bus if you have small luggage. If you have larger bags, or are 3 or 4 passengers, find the booth where you get a flat-rate ticket for yellow cabs.

New renovations make this place feel like a shopping mall instead of an airport - in a good way! Little Mama does quick yet tasty pizza.

If you are taking a taxi from the city to the airport, use the Aerotaxi. You can call them and schedule the pick up time. It ends up being cheaper than regular cabs and more reliable.

If you see the WiFi Zone sign, you can access free WiFi by registering on your mobile browser. A bit tedious process but if you want to go online without paying it's a great option.

The ATMs are well hidden to force tourists to face extorsive exchange rates. At Terminal 1, go to the 3rd floor all the way to the left after leaving the elevator and you will find the ATMs.
