I love the hullabaloo when a big plane comes in on a wet day. The 767 that just came in kicked up palls of spray in full reverse thrust. Spectacular old girl she is. See photo
If you're looking for plain white toast without costing an arm and a leg, go to Pie Face they do white toast with bread and honey for $3.50 (no jam, get it from maccas)
When security screening queues are long, do as the operators say and remove aerosol cans, not doing will result in you being seated next to a screaming baby on every flight for the next 7 years.
All the ATMs in the terminal are ANZ. There's a Westpac machine in the train station if you don't want to stuff more cash into Sydney Airport Corporation's greedy maw.
New efficient explosive screening process implemented. Best practice in my experience. Group screened with a single swab and only if issues do they then need to swab single people (in the group).
Gate 34 is wonderful. Try and get a seat near the vending machines so you can't see the TV. It's also the optimal spot for screaming toddler audio enjoyment.
If you want some peace and quiet while you wait (which cannot be found in the Qantas Club) try the regional airline gates. The pace is slower out there.
VIRGIN BLUE: If you arrival extra early for your flight you can qualify for a free upgrade to an earlier flight. You must ask. Check the upgrade is free (mine was) :-)
Sydney domestic is fab. Tap House has good food, virginlounge is very comfy (go the vegerisotto) and there's a Witchery, and Mimco too. I know it's not cool to love an airport - but I do!
Coffee or a snack? Head down to Aromas near gate 47. Cheap, pretty good and a ton less people than the terminal's other offerings. Shhh... It's a secret!
If you ever leave something on a Virgin Australia flight, make sure to check Baggage Services next to Carousel 3 in the baggage claim area..just picked up my wallet, Bible and book that I left behind!
If you have no luggage, and have already checked in online, take advantage of the no cue security point on the ground level past the car rental. Great for when your in a rush.
When going through security, prepare before you get to the point, there's nothing worse than someone in front of you chucking their $600 in coins, belt and watch in a tray while 682 people stand there
Check the wallet, you may have that virgin blue card... proceed for self-checkin. Also, make sure 2 check out the mobile sites of Qantas/Virgin/Jetstar for barcode boarding passes..have a safe flight.
There are two prayer rooms. One at Level 3 of Terminal 1 & the other is at the taxi holding area of Terminal 1.Krispy Kremes & Oportos are Halal Certified eateries at Terminal 1 Read more
Kiosk self check-in →baggage drop off →head to departure gates →board plane & that's it ! Check in and baggage drop off barely took 5 mins ! Thumbs up for #jetstar #sydneyairport
To save waiting too long in traffic to collect passengers try Qantas dropoff area on upper level, on inner road beside carpark. No orange men, so you can wait without being booked.
If ya get here just a little bit before the final baggage check in time, say, 10 mins, you could luckily be called to the front of the pathetically long queues!
When flying Virgin Blue sit as close to the front or back of the plane as possible. Sit around the exit row in the middle and it takes ages to get off. :)
Ok #Adelaide peeps, it's busier than home out there so take a deep breath and tweet me to catch up for a @CoopersBrewey Pale Ale or an @MVBeer when you're ready :-) @Twillyon
