If I'm going to kvetch, I should praise, too. We were promptly served, even on the leading edge of post-church rush, and our hot sandwiches were hot. The server was quick and helpful.
This place is delicious. I would say "hidden gem" but it's always packed. REAL food! Always delicious. Beef Stew is the first time I willingly ate peas. Delicious! Free FroYo!
It's amazing to watch the woman maintaining the salad bar trying to pile tomatoes, peppers, and greens up, presumably to minimize trips, but so high that they're sure to fall over at the least touch.
You can swap out the potato chips for baked chips, or better yet -- fresh fruit with their famous fruitdip. SO GOOD. Everything here is astoundingly delicious.
Not sure how long they'll have it, but the pot roast sandwich with cheese, garlic, and chipotle aioli is the best sandwich I've had in q long time. Try it.
The TV is always on sports, but the variety of music is really nice. No way would I hear Leo Kottke's cover of the Tom T. Hall classic "Pamela Brown" in most Des Moines food places.
A bit inconvenient for the handicapped. They give a fair amount of prime parking to carry out customers. We got here with maybe three or four tables occupied, and no handicapped spaces were open.
