If you need the toilet and you're going to board a train, use the ones past the ticket gates as the ones near the ticket office always stink and are usually not clean
Stopping off for a quick half? Centurion Bar (just before the Metro entrance) usually has 3-4 decent ales. Or if you have longer try the Head of Steam, out of main exit across road to the right
Best coffee around the station is Pink Lane Coffee! outside the main station doors, across road and walk between greggs and subway! Excellent independent coffee shop!
Shame with recent redevelopments, there's still only one entrance and one narrow bridge linking all 12 Platform, all of which can get pretty congested when several full trains arrive simultaneously.
If you're catching a bus here, sometimes coaches park beside the stops which means you have to jump on the road to stop your bus. Life endangering but ultimately rewarding when you get to work on time
The pay by cash machine in the information centre now only accepts cards so if you are in a rush don't queue go to the right of the ticket gates and there is a pay by cash ticket machine hidden.
Could someone please teach the good people of Newcastle how automated ticket barriers work, they've been in a while now and they still haven't grasped it
