- ThomSeptember 12, 2019The biggest oyster I’ve had in my whole life. Quite good and tasty as well. Impeccable service, friendly, at your disposal, nice fancy atmosphere, good Gironde white wine, and a good mackerel burger.
- The pub is very nice but you have to try the restaurant at the back - the wine list is great, the service is exceptional and the food is sensational! A real gem in gastro pub loaded North London.
- Phil The GreekApril 17, 2014Excellent food, lovely place but sometimes I find the staff a little offish and it takes over 40 mins per course to arrive.. Still worth a visit
- Try the rump steak: cooked as asked, comes with two different kinds of mustard, horseradish, roast tomato and chips. Very generous portion, too.
- Reliable, consistent, reasonably priced - St John's is one of the best kept secrets in London. Come hungry!
- Andy BurgessOctober 11, 2015Great food, somewhat busy at times, and can fill up with families, but a pleasant, high end gastropub.
- The mutton pasties at the bar are incredible. Inspired wine list, too.
- Breaded pollock and chips is delicious, so is the pheasant - avoid the breaded halloumi as it's just huge chunks of cheese with no sauce!
- Lisa SommerhuberSeptember 28, 2014The pickled whelks were my highlight in this evening of great food, wine, service and atmosphere at the restaurant behind the pub.
- Danny BallMay 18, 2013Well the Guinness, scotch eggs are good. Like the staff and in general yeah, I recommend it.
- Ankur BanerjeeJune 16, 2014The restaurant at the back has nice posters and artwork. Love that atmosphere!
- Isabel Cabeza-Erikson HillMay 30, 2019We ate in the dining room, what a lovely space. Food was good and the service too!
- Robert TysonMarch 25, 2011Great food, one of THE best food pubs around here if not in fact the best, and there is loads of competition. Check it out.
- Erik NolanderSeptember 5, 2011Excellent pub/tavern, great selection of ales, lagers and ciders on tap, and great if somewhat pricey food to boot! Read more
- Becky WilliamsOctober 5, 2015Head to the back and find the gorgeous, high-ceilinged dining room. The food is great too.
- Parmis SharifApril 21, 2012The scallops here are brilliantly tasty. Don't bother with the snails though. The portion is too small to leave any kind of an impression.
- Try the Oysters - They taste absolutely delicious. Add salt, pepper, lemon & shallots/red wine vinegar dressing!
- The menu changes daily. Fresh seasonal ingredients. I've never had a bad meal here.
- James WhatleyJanuary 25, 2013Oh. My. God. The creme brulee here is effing amazing. Jesus Christ. I wanted to have sex with it. GET ONE NOW.
- Luke MagnusonApril 9, 2010Top notch gastro pub in lovely, emm, Archway. Excellent nosh in both the bar and dining room. Some nice ales on tap too...
- Craig CockburnDecember 10, 2011Where is the pizza, curry or fish and chips for those of us who don't fancy ox heart ? (really!)
- Attila SzMarch 13, 2011Less conventional menu, worth to try: Dorset snails, pigs head, ox tongue. Don't expect quantity though.
- Craig CockburnDecember 10, 2011Food crap. Turn up at 6pm and you get a mutton pasty if you are lucky. Go elsewhere
- Wine recommendations: White - Falanghina ... Red - Sabernet
