- Natalie MJune 18, 2016You have to climb a bit a ways but it's so worth it! Amazingly beautiful and secluded. Great way to stretch your legs after the long, twisted road to Hana
- Ling LeeNovember 23, 2014Treacherous climb to the beach but worth checking out for the red sand! Be aware you're walking through private property and make sure to wear good sneakers.
- Sam SJanuary 13, 2016The trail isn't too hard to find but it can be a difficult walk there. It's a nude beach (optionally), so be ready for that. The reward for trekking is a perfect beach with lots of privacy.
- Ebrahim BandookwalaJuly 16, 2019Well worth the hike ! Take waterproof shoes as the sand gets very hot to walk on during the day ! The near side can get a rough current , hang on ! The views from this side as the waves roll in is 🤩
- Cynthia LinJuly 15, 2023Beautiful probably because it’s harder to get to. The path there isn’t as bad as hotels make it out to be, but it’s definitely cliffside and requires extra attention
- Yuan WangJanuary 17, 2017Rewarding view. Trail head is a bit hidden. Ask around if you're not sure. Once on the trail, it's not hard to just follow the path and get down. Looks like it's popular with locals and hippies.
- Ed HunsingerSeptember 27, 2014Totally worth the "treacherous" walk to the beach. It's pretty easy if you take the lower trail. My 7 month pregnant wife had no trouble. Keep an eye out for the "Toilet Bowl" on your way around.
- Anna HuertaMarch 20, 2013GORGEOUS SPOT! Be sure to bring water shoes for both the trek to this secluded area and also if you have sensitive feet and plan on taking a swim.
- Becky NouSeptember 26, 2012Two ways to hike there.. You can hike up or head down closer to the beach. The trail closest to the beach is wayyyy easier!
- Todd AndrewsMarch 26, 2013Beautiful place and relatively quiet. Be VERY careful walking there though, if you aren't careful you could easily get hurt.
- Mike NiemczykOctober 18, 2013If Old Machete Marko wants to lead you, let him. He'll cut fruit for you, give you a history lesson and show you every nuance you'd miss.
- Monica VApril 6, 2010Trail is through private property so beware. Well worth the slightly treacherous trail. Once you get there you may see people in their birthday suits. Resting spot for monk seals.
- Caitlin StinnefordApril 18, 2015A little tricky to find and you need to be a stable walker to get back here but it's pretty. Not soft sand though.
- Callie NAugust 10, 2013Not a hiking person? I suggest you not to go, but if you do, the experience will make it worth it.
- Ashley A.November 16, 2010Get there early and there most likely won't be anyone else around. It's a surreal place to experience, especially in the early morning light
- Maui HawaiiSeptember 1, 2011Be very careful on the path. There are other red sand beaches on Maui that don't cross private property. Read more
- Sarah SlivaMay 7, 2012Gorgeous find. Had place nearly to ourselves. Glad the guidebooks don't talk it up too much. A definite must-do on Maui.
- BillMay 17, 2010Be respectful, don't walk through the Japanese Cemetary and don't use the advice from Maui Revealed. Stay on the path near the coast and you'll be safe.
- Caroline GrimmOctober 3, 2018Coisa mais linda do mundo! Trilha bem perigosa, mas curta, vale a pena!
