The second beach has a lot of rocks in the water :( otherwise its an amazing island and an unforgettable experience. The first restaurants rice and fish is delicious.

a perfectly picturesque island that was sadly one of the biggest slave trading points in africa for more than 300 years. return trip on the ferry is 500 francs and you have to pay 1000 tax & entry.

Periodically, the conservator of the Maison des Esclaves makes a teaching speech on slavery at the main stairs. Brilliant lesson even though it's only in french. Ask for the hours at the ticket booth.

Please refrain to speak loudly, smoke and drink in this place of memories (Maison des Esclaves) where people were enslaved and sent overseas by thousands. This is not Disneyland (or go back home !).
