Gorgeous views along w/ a great workout! Less people than at Runyon Canyon. Wear running shoes, trails can be slippery. Next to the zoo & golf course so it's a perfect spot for the whole family!

Th observatory at the top of the trail is worth a visit in its own right, but you're missing out on the experience you don't hike up the trail from the base. Feels a bit like gently storming a castle.

This is a fairly easy hike. However, there is a constant flow of direct sunlight so sunscreen it up and brink a big bottle of cool water

If you go in the summer, BRING WATER! Like, WAY more than you think you'll need. I'm a seasoned hiker/athlete and the heat combined with virtually zero shade were too much for me!

Park on Fern Dell or the lot just north, look for the trail heading northeast about 30 mins up to the observatory. Great hike! Bring water.

Grab your hiking boots and make your way from the Los Angeles Zoo to the Griffith Observatory, made famous by “Rebel Without a Cause.” Stop at Trails Café for lunch.

Some trails -- everything is unmarked -- end with a fence. Please, park rangers, can't you put signage at the other end to say a trail is closed?

It's Spring in Griffith Park and there are plenty of areas to hike. Go off trail for the better areas. Watch for wildlife, rattlesnakes, coyotes. Carry a stick, if necessary.
