- Kevin MullettJanuary 16, 2017Love just hanging out and watching the sea lions just lay around while others bicker at each other. Also I got to see a seagull playing with a tennis ball! It was so much fun
- Fatih KuranFebruary 5, 2014Great experience to see so many sea lions together ( as many as 1701 in 2009) come here very early in the morning not to be interrupted by tourists.Upvoted Mar 6
- CarolineDecember 8, 2016Many souvenir shops, restaurants and my personal highlight the sea lions. The pier visit is a must for San Francisco and belongs to the city as well as the famous red steel colossus.Upvoted 3 weeks ago
- Beth BondJuly 17, 2018This was the best part of Fisherman's Wharf. They have a sea lion center where you can see Sea Lions sunning and learn about them.
- Ty 'DijiJanuary 15, 2019It’s just great. Don’t miss it and it’s free. They’re just o the deck there so you can see them interacting, making sounds and flapping back into the sea and shuffle - wobble on their tail.Fascinating
- Shawna MarieJanuary 13, 2017They don't smell the best but go during the week and off season for tourists. They're super cute and sometimes a little loud. Can be crowded but worth it!
- Victoria RiosOctober 23, 2013For a short trip to San Fran, the hubby and I are very happy to have seen the sea lions on the pier. Such a lovely, unique, and memorable thing to do. Here in NYC all I see are floating trash bags! =P
- Alice RoFebruary 10, 2016Don't forget to visit this place, it feels great to be close to these beautiful animals without invading their space. And you get to take cool pictures ☺️
- ᴡᴡᴡ.Joe.uwul.ru SheehanNovember 13, 2013You mustn't visit San Francisco and not visit the sea lions. They've been there for decades and they're fun to watch especially if you live somewhere where you don't see them everyday.
- Anna K.March 16, 2016Life haven't prepared you for this. Sea lions, tons of sea lions, they are every, they are sleeping, the are fighting, they are roaring. They. Are. Cute.
- Simon FranklinDecember 9, 2018Sea lions (left) are brown, bark loudly, "walk" on land using their large flippers and have visible ear flaps. Seals have small flippers, wriggle on their bellies on land, and lack visible ear flaps.
- Jennifer KintzMay 18, 2019So awesome to see! You get to see how they interact with each other and they're funny and amazing to watch!
- KarenJanuary 19, 2019The sea lions are so incredible to watch. There are so many of them. Do not feed them!
- AlexAugust 3, 2017Some of my favorite animals, the sea lions are so adorable! They are free and they're given food as well
- Marco ErminiAugust 16, 2015No one really knows why they come here, but here they are. You can tell sea lions from seals as the first have small ear flaps while the latter only holes. Look at them carefully!
- Yateema4everNovember 13, 2015Amazing place with so many views and sea lions!! Aaaaah so many and singing too😜
- Mohammed Al-ManeaJuly 9, 2018Lovely spot at the sunset to spend. We only saw 2 of the sea lions :) but it was fun
- Dan Mondragón SomeraJune 3, 2018SOOOO CUTEEEE come at sunset and here there are all of the sea lions taking the sun and sleeping :3
- Denise FOctober 28, 2016Great experience, even on September which is not a good time to see the lions, we could see a couple of them just relaxing! Amazing if you have never seen one before.
- Allison KaminskiSeptember 5, 2015Gotta check out the sea lions, make sure you go when it's the season that they are in the bay. There weren't many in the end of July
- CristinaJune 29, 2016Its full of sea lions during the day. At night they swim to Alcatraz Island. So try to go in the morning.
- Nikolaj BorchorstAugust 23, 2015Fantastic entertainment. Kids loved it, so did we. And they're free;-)
- Travelivery - Redefining the Way You Travel.January 20, 2014When at Pier 39, you have to visit the Sea Lions. Whether they're sleeping, fighting, or just barking, it's entertaining. http://sf.travelivery.com
- Chris KedNovember 28, 2013Watch the seals from the opposite side. Way better view and almost no people. You can see the seals play at multiple locations.
- Uri GiladSeptember 22, 2014To get the best experience - skip the "tourist trap" and follow the seafront rather than going through the pier.
- Beth BOctober 20, 2014If you can, go to the Wharf on a weekday. Such a lovely place when not swarming with people.
- budgetplaces.comJune 5, 2012Go and see some sea lions from close-up. Have your camera at the ready to make some beautiful snapshots. And be amazed at the sounds (and the occasional smelly burps) these animals make!
- Cam ByrdNovember 29, 2015They're so cute, you'll want to take one home...but you're better off with a normal, non-fishy dog.
- Brendan ElliottOctober 5, 2018A must see, fascinating to see them all laying and playing on the floating docks.
- The sea lions are there 24/7 so it doesn't matter what time you visit them 🙂
- Lindsay FloresOctober 21, 2015Neat little place that provides information on the sea lions that are seen in the area.
- Paul MullarkeySeptember 2, 2016Great to watch the sea lions being lazy in the sun, draws in the crowds!
- Pinky Blyden 💋May 16, 2015Take the family to see these active & very entertaining creatures (plus it's free)
- Diana MirakyanJune 6, 2016Sooooo good to see this. Spend some time watching these animals, you won't regret

- Mike KroeberNovember 18, 2022Walk the wharf. Giradelli square, bread at Boudins and sea lions. Nice day.
