- Mark RondeauApril 4, 2017Park was really well maintained. The view was absolutely magical! Arrived early in the morning in winter & the sand was moist & FREEZING cold! Dog thought it was snow...until he tasted it. ;-)
- Erick AguilarFebruary 4, 2016Beautiful place, the sand is so white it looks like snow. Don't stray off too far from any marked paths as it's too easy to get disoriented and lost, you could die from heat exhaustion and dehydration
- Mangat RaiJanuary 5, 2016Love this place. Try to go there for sunrise or sunset. Breath taking view. Buy sledge from visitor center if you want to play in sand. Store buy back sledge once you are done using.Upvoted Apr 6
- Chad HembreeAugust 6, 2018This place is amazing and fun for all ages. Bring water as it gets hot, but go barefoot because the gypsum sand does not get hot. Barely warm on the surface and cool beneath.
- Dustin LeeNovember 12, 2020Stunning place and a surreal experience. Come for sunrise/sunset - magical. Week before daylight savings end is optimal to catch both without paying early in/out fees. Bring a headlamp if staying late
- Wayne HodginAugust 18, 2013The sunset tour starts at 6:45 and is fairly interesting from a geological perspective. Leave your shoes in the car, and grab your camera. Sensational sunsets, so go in the evenings when it's cooler.
- Larry LanglaisAugust 30, 2022Check the forecast. Wind can be a little difficult here. Worlds largest gypsum deposit. Worth driving thru and walking on the white sand but I wouldn’t make it your destination.
- RussellNovember 4, 2019Drive in to the end of road, park and hike over several dunes to get away from people and enjoy the beauty and solitude
- Social News NetworkNovember 30, 2012You'll forget you're in New Mexico surrounded by mountains when you get to White Sands. Grab a saucer and some wax from the gift shop to slide down the dunes on.
- Jon DarveauJune 3, 2016This is super cool and you need to do it. Constantly shifting sands mean it will never be the same twice! Very windy here obviously
- Pavan KulkarniOctober 19, 2018Spectacular place. Can easily complete all spots in 2-3 hours except the alkali trail which is a 5 mile loop.
- Richard RevillaOctober 1, 2012One of the most beautiful spots on earth. Hiking can be difficult in a white wasteland of sand. Bring lots of water and keep your compass straight.
- Joe PageJanuary 12, 2015A great family day trip...wander around the dunes and get some great photos. No food onsite, and remember to bring water.
- Ros47 DeltaAugust 16, 2013To clarify: the "saucers" found here are small discs the humans use to ride the dunes. Not our kind. Fun place, though. Sand felt good between my three toes.

- Malo MedinaDecember 27, 2014Buy the sleds and search for the steepest sand dunes to truly enjoy white sands. Don't forget to pack a lunch!
- Floue HarnadiMay 29, 2014You can see white sands wherever you go. Perfect place for pre-wedding photo shoot. Beautiful 👍
- Melanie LongFebruary 23, 2021It may look scary, but you need an extremely steep dune to actually be able to slide down
- Erick AguilarFebruary 4, 2016Bring plenty of water if you're going to be here for several hours, especially in summer
- Dec. 19, 2013: The Monument is open until 6 pm today. Join the Sunset Sroll at 4 pm sharp. Meet place is 4 miles in on Dunes Drive at the sign.
