- Ryan EugeneNovember 13, 2018Great market near the French Quarter that is open most days of the week and especially active weekend mornings. Great for souvenirs, people watching, and more! Plenty of bars nearby to visit as well.Upvoted 3 weeks ago

- StefaniApril 20, 2016Coolest market ever!! Been around for centuries and apparently has some of the best gumbo in NOLA. Try all the food stands :)
- Aubrey LittletonOctober 18, 2018Worth checking out for the history; it's the oldest operating public market in the US. A lot of kitschy trinkets, but no doubt a good place to find some interesting souvenirs and art, too.
- JASON VARNELLMay 29, 2017Must try the praline beignets at Loretta's Pralines in the market! Super delicious!! A little slice of Heaven!!
- Elizabeth BursteinMay 7, 2017Major New Orleans pro tip - get good southern food here at the stalls, much more decent prices !! Other than that it's a good place for chachkis
- Nicole CheramieNovember 27, 2018This outdoor market hosts fun food delicacies from grilled alligator to pralines. Taste all the delicious creations and walk all the way to the back where stands are filled with souvenirs for gifts.

- Michael HaaralaSeptember 29, 2016While very touristy, there are still a few hidden gems inside (like the apple beignets).
- Ven CamposJuly 14, 2015If you're looking for souvenirs to bring back, this is the place to get it. It's usually a little bit cheaper than just getting it inside the stores and you can try to haggle to lower the price.
- Meg MertzJuly 5, 2017Make sure you have time to relax and just walk around enjoying everything! Get a drink, some food and have a good time!
- Dennis BFebruary 10, 2020Better and cheaper souvenirs than in the French Quarter. Better and cheaper food than in the French Quarter. Make the French Market a priority on your New Orleans trip!
- Ann-Marie TangMarch 7, 2019Good local food and there’s a flea market which is fun. Was there during the Mardi Gras period so lines were insanely long.

- Eva 🐾 BanovaJuly 6, 2018Lots of little creative (and not so creative) little shops. Take the time to walk around
- You CAN haggle for prices, but do so only for the cheap/knockoff stuff. Don't haggle with the real artists for their art. Fun to walk around and look at everything. Great place to find local music CDs
- Tatia JJuly 21, 2012You have GOT to get a cold, refreshing drink from the Organic Banana--- non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks made fresh...the Piña Colada was awesome, as was the Mango Rum Punch!
- MelApril 21, 2013Do a walk around before buying anything. A different vendor might have it cheaper, or in a style you like better. Also, be nice to them and most vendors will take down the price a few dollars.
- Caroline S.June 17, 2013Definitely stop by Meals from the Heart for a vegan shake or crab cakes. Super relaxed and friendly. Eat at the bar if you want to make new friends.
- Dijana CotajJanuary 7, 2016a must when visiting New Orleans. Once you're done with your shopping you should walk up Decatur towards Café Du Monde, best beignets!
- TessaMarch 23, 2015Come for the trinkets, stay for the food. I can't wait until I come back to NOLA to experience more of the fresh food at the French Market
- Shop and walk the market daily. There is always a major fun happening in this location. If nothing else the walk is good for you! Get yourself a meal card at "Meals from the Heart".
- Michelin Travel & LifestyleJanuary 22, 2014The 200+ year old market bustles with tourists. Try Pop City, Café du Monde, then over to Central Grocery for muffaletta. - Green Guide Editor
- Ariana VoyerJune 9, 2017Predictably touristy, but offers some fun NOLA cuisine including a lot of alligator preparations!
- Nikki S.June 16, 2013If you like to shop make sure you take the time to walk down here to shop. Everything you need is here! Close to Angelina and Brad house too!
- House of Blues Restaurant & BarMay 2, 2012Meandering around this historic French quarter flea market, you can grab some food, drinks, and very unique souvenirs made by some of New Orleans best artisans!
- Always fun and also plan a lunch here at some of the most amazing small cafes. My favorite is Meals from the Heart and their crab cake salade to die for!
- Libby LeeFebruary 20, 2014Best place to buy all your New Orleans souvenirs! You won't find a better deal elsewhere (especially within Bourbon Street)
- French Market / Flea Market is a mix of Artist/souvenirs. Close up about 4pm& open all wk. PPL often mistake the flea Market as a bargaining game,if ur buying frm a artist plz respect their pricing.
- Brett R.May 28, 2019It's fun to browse, and you can find some cool stuff in jewelry and art. It's overpriced and crowded, of course.
- You find such great treasures every once in awhile. Always worth the stop
- Rob WFebruary 27, 2015Wandering the market is a must! Be sure to try any of the food along the way. All of it is great!

- Dave SawyerApril 5, 2015There are so many better, more interesting things to do and see in NOLA than wandering around this market of chotskies and trinkets made somewhere overseas.
- DenetteJuly 28, 2015Fun place to shop! Walk around before you buy some vendors have the same thing for different prices.
- Michelin Travel & LifestyleMarch 29, 2012The French Market was originally a Choctaw trading post. Dating back to 1791, it is the oldest documented farmers’ market in America. -Travel Editor
- Sandra EstradaFebruary 16, 2015It was a cool experience. Go in late afternoon, they barter on prices since they don't wanna take it back.
- DenetteJuly 28, 2015Go to the organic banana and get a lemonade and a piña colada. Listen to the karaoke of the oyster shucker while you wait.
- Shannon LittleMarch 5, 2013Eat some traditional cajun food, then buy some mixes or sauces to take with you. People watch. Then buy you some cheap sunglasses.
- Allen ArcadeAugust 7, 2011Let's be honest here folks... While there is certainly a treasure trove of history at this location, the multitude of vendors hawking useless knick-knacks doesn't exactly make for a NOLA experience.
- Yohan AbrahamsOctober 24, 2013My first taste of alligator and frogs legs.. made friends with some of the stallholders including a bohemian silversmith..ideal location for peoplewatching
- RachaelDecember 28, 2011I buy at least two pair of cheap sunglasses here every year. Great place to shop for souvenirs to bring home to your friends.
