One of the best mainline stations in the UK. Some good retail outlets including M & S Simply Food and Burger King-for real/craft beer head to Piccadilly Tap 4 mins from main entrance.
Once you're on a train. Put the generic iThink NotePad away and have a nap. You deserve it. It's been a long and probably arduous day or meetings and bullshit office politics.
M&S might be a little on the expensive side but the food is wicked and the staff I have noticed are very friendly at the moment. Wonder if they have a new customer service initiative?!
Pigeons will try and race you to the trains in order to snaffle up the best seats. Beat them up the concourse, or else you totally will end up sat next to a toilet!
Decent railway station with a good number of ticket machines and ATMs dotted around. It can still be hard work trying to get a ticket at busy times, though. Fridays are a nightmare for ticket machines
If spending the night and can't get a bed, don't sleep in waiting areas. VERY cold, benches uncomfy. 30p for the toilets or jump turnstyle if quiet, kip in cubicles. Not classy or comfy but it's warm.
Not the best of train stations. Best travel food is probably at Pret... Give yourself some extra time if you're travelling on platform 13-14. They're a bit of a walk away.
Food can be a bit on the expensive side try getting a free bite card from www.bitecard.co.uk... you can get 20% off at some shops. Sainsburys and Boots have some offers on. Venture outside to Subway a
If u are traveling to London, coach E is the non reserved coach with virgin. Even if u have a reservation it tends to be quieter than the likes of A-C.
Spend as little time here as possible. Confusing directions and layout of the station makes navigation awkward. Be prepared to pay 30p to use the public toilets.
