If this place was George Washington's favorite, then it's ok in our book! While it's known for its whiskey selection, the extensive beer list is not to be ignored. We usually go for the beer flights.

Chicken Pot Pie has been on the menu since George Washington ate here. It was the most savory dish I've enjoyed. Make sure you have 1.5 hours for this place. Hard to get in & out, fast.

This is just the coolest bar to take visiting friends too. Just avoid it like the plague around happy hour. Any other time, great beer, food and a cool whiskey room

Highlights include the Long Room, where George Washington gave his final speech to his officers. Bonus: the museum is connected to an excellent old-school tavern and restaurant.

Had the filet however they ran out of stones... Great anyway! Mushrooms and asparagus as sides and a Cabernet followed by Blantons bourbon... This place is a bucket list destination!

Esquire: A cozy tavern with surprisingly good food and a warm feeling in the older rooms. The whiskey bar up front is the snuggest place you can be on a winter night in Manhattan.

I'm a big history buff, so visiting a bar that's been around since the 1760s was pretty awesome. Didn't get a chance to try the beers, but they looked good, and the whiskey selection was great.

Old, dark, and brooding, but great bar with a lot of options. Separate beer and whiskey lists to pick from. Menu is rotating so if you see it online doesn't mean they'll have it. Ask the bartender

Really great authentic and old NYC bar. There are tons of tables and seating. Can get a little crowded at times. Definitely check it out! They have tons of beers including some they make themselves.

On the tourist trail definitely but this is also a good local spot with a lot of nooks and crannies, a fireplace, solid food and a killer whiskey selection.

Super authentic tavern, with good food and live music! I read that the chicken pot was the one Washington originally ordered! I didn't know, but you should try!

Grab a seat at the pub. There's tons of whiskeys and a great selection of beer. Try the famous chicken pot pie or the gouda mac and cheese with bacon.

Excellent food!! The building doesn't look like much and might drive you off at first glance but just go along with the whole 'this is a historic building' idea and enjoy the food.

Generally speaking, it's the atmosphere that sells me every time. Everything I'd love to have in a historic restaurant / pub.

The beer menu looks long but be warned that it's more a list of what they could have with a lot of rotation. Just tell the waitress what kind of drink you want and you'll be told what's available.

A whole lot of beer gets poured at Fraunces Tavern, established in 1762, but it's also a gathering spot for several cocktail and whiskey clubs. - From Eater NY

Nice selection of beer. Had the steak and eggs- the steak was good and tasty. The sunny side eggs were severely overcooked.
