- Paige CAugust 19, 2017Amazing pork buns and really good ramen. They don't let you take leftovers home or to-go orders. Dine-in only. Weird rule, so order wisely. Their lunch special with salad & rice bowl is a great combo.
- Love this place. The pork buns give me life. The Akamaru Modern is my go to Ramen choice. The staff is friendly and efficient. Expect a 30 to 45 min wait for a table. Its worth the wait!Upvoted Feb 24
- Lisa FinnOctober 20, 2014If it's your first time here, you can't go wrong with the classic ramen- hearty, with amazing taste and texture. If you like spice, get a side of Bakugan, but beware- it packs a punch!
- Fabian MartinJanuary 5, 2022The best ramen you can have outside of Japan! I had the Miso Ramen and it was very delicious but I would recommend the Akamara or the Spicy one. Make sure to get some Buns as a starter they are 10/10
- Ming KoslowskyAugust 19, 2013Love, love, love Akamaru Modern. You have to put extra Kakuni in. So good! I experienced shorter wait time at West Side location both time I came here. it was no wait yesterday! (3 pm Sunday)
- Josephine SonSeptember 14, 2014Oh ramen, how I love you so. This location is less crowded than EV. Get the ramen, any ramen and get the spicy sauce! Pork buns are also great and the staff is super friendly. A slurping good time!
- Amanda BethNovember 28, 2017The tonkotsu broth was one of the best broths I've ever tasted. I had the akamaru modern, but I'm sure any of the ones made with tonkotsu are comparable! If you're a ramen aficionado, don't miss out!
- Marie La RueNovember 7, 2018Arakamu Modern ramen is a standout. Also recommend the Chicken buns as an appetizer. The wait is usually shorter than at the East Village location, grab a drink at the bar near the entrance.
- Clara EloyJanuary 6, 2022Amazing. I love Ippudo so much, tried it in London and now in NY and both were similar yet different experiences but both just as tasty and great.
- Paul MacapagalJuly 16, 2013Pork Buns are definitely where it is at. You can't go wrong with any of the Ramen's. They are all good! Don't be scared to upgrade your ramen with some braised pork and an egg !!!! OMG so good!! Read more
- Jannica RobertsonApril 26, 2014Pork buns. Shishito peppers. Ippudo house salad. Karaka-men spicy ramen with egg. During dinner, you can put your name down with the host/ess and they will txt you 5 min. before your table is ready.
- ZenFoodsterApril 6, 2018Altho’ Ippudo still reigns supreme among ramen spots w/ its broth & my fave bowl, Akamaru Modern, its strict no take-away (even w/ leftovers) & no extra-garlic-oil-on-side policies are turn-offs.
- Hamilton Fortuna BautistaMarch 28, 2019This was my first time ever having ramen and I loved every second I was here: the waiter, the buns, the cheese ball, the ramen and even the bill, yes. Definitely will go back next time I am in NYC.
- Amazing. Simply amazing. Wagyu Beef appetizer melted in my mouth like butter. The ramen broth was very flavorful and balanced the flavors nicely. The staff was knowledgable and very attentive.
- Emily BennettSeptember 3, 2017Easily the best vegetarian ramen I have ever had! I don't normally go for veggie ramen (I'm a chashu fan) but this sesame broth sounded amazing. So. Freakin. Good.
- PaddyMarch 16, 2018Another Japanese import in NYC. One of the best ramen joints in the city in this reviewers humble opinion. Karaka’men 👍🏻. Always a wait if 45/60 minutes so out your name down and come back later
- Dan SohaydaMarch 17, 2017Amazing ramen place! Broth & noodles are phenomenal, staff is pleasant, and willing to help you with the menu. Try the Kaedama ale specially made for Ippudo by Brooklyn Brewery while you wait 4 a seat
- regine jeromeJanuary 9, 2015I love the atmosphere. The appetizer special had a bit of a mishap so I have that sent back to the kitchen and the manager took it off my bill even after they sent me another one so that was nice.
- Grace S.May 5, 2014Much shorter wait than other loc. Pork buns are a must. Loved the torishio ramen - very light soup base w/ a shio leaf flavor. ask 4 scallions & spicy paste. If u want more traditional go 4 classic.
- Eaters HeavenApril 6, 2016Drum Heart bowl - black sesame spicy pork soup served w pork belly chasu, spicy miso paste, crispy onion chips, cabbage, cilantro, and lime, finished at the table w Rayu spicy sesame oil. DELICIOUS!
- Bikash MishraMay 18, 2017Excellent ramen!! All of them are good. Don't forget to get the pork belly or chicken buns to start - so good!! Expect a wait but it usually moves faster than they state.
- @JaumePrimeroJuly 19, 2013So impressed with the service and menu knowledge at this location. The preserved egg in my ramen was perfectly cooked, and make sure you order the spicy chicken katsu bun. Hot, crispy and delicious!
- Chris RuarkMay 15, 2015The current house special is a giant bowl of NOM-NOM. Very kind staff in the whole operation. Strong execution in the kitchen mixed with efficient, quick service.
- Tim LuoJune 4, 2016Ramen is 10/10. I like the Akamaru modern. Broth is very rich and flavourful. Usually requires a wait, especially during prime dinner time
- Ray LopesAugust 25, 2016I really enjoyed the Shiromaru Hakata Classic. And Brooklyn Brewery brews them an exclusive Kaedama Ale: a delicious not-so-heavy brown ale on draft. Worth it!
- Ale TowerJune 11, 2016Must-go spot: the ramen was very good, but the starters are the real stars here. Not one of the plates that I saw flying around looked anything less than delicious. The tako tempura I got was bomb.
- lisa SMarch 2, 2018Great beef buns (they had an amazing sauce!)and you cannot go wrong with the classic ramen. I also liked the atmosphere a lot!
- Noah WeissSeptember 3, 2016Same great Ippudo, half the wait as the east village. Pork buns, akamaru ramen, and spicy tonkatsu all fantastic.
- Kim SteckerNovember 18, 2016The atmosphere in this place is great! We ordered the pork buns and let me tell you, they are to die for. The ramen is amazing and the drinks are top notch. Definitely recommend!
- Maria RosatiNovember 20, 2013Get the pork bun and cucumber with sesame oil to start. All the ramen is fresh so you can't go wrong with your choice. Subtle but umami flavors.
- Justin BOctober 14, 2018This place is incredible. Love the ambiance and the ramen is straight fire. The Akamaru Modern Ramen is absolutely out of this world.
- Blake SuharJune 1, 2018BEST ramen around!!! The broth might be the best I've ever had and the noodles are to die for. Get the pork buns to start and I'd recommend the spicy chili ramen.
- Christopher CoyleJuly 16, 2018You can’t go wrong with the Ramen. The classic is by far my favorite but any of the specialty ramens are amazing.
- Christina ChinJune 13, 2015Akurmura modern and pork buns. Been to alot of ramen places in the city and still consider this my fav ramen and pork buns. West side has less wait if you get there before 6
- jansen cMarch 20, 2016You will like the atmosphere there, lively and perfectly okay to go solo. Try the pork bun and add spicy sauce to your ramen!
- Jack HarrisonSeptember 19, 2014Classic ramen is incredible, as is the green tea ice cream. Pork buns were highly recommended but sold out for the dinner service so go for lunch if that's what you're looking for!
- Andrew PerezOctober 2, 2015Remember, if you eat all your noodles and still have broth you can ask for more for $2! Save room for Jelly Sake after your ramen.
- L. Q.October 10, 2019The ramen is good, no news. Pork buns are also great. The lighting is too bright, service is hushed, but overall the experience was fine. I wouldn’t be happy if I had to wait long to be seated, though
- Jon StookeyMarch 20, 2014The Hakata Classic is extraordinary - porky but somehow subtle all in one bowl. Add an egg and make it a lunch set with eel rice and salad.
- John AOctober 2, 2014Eggplant buns are amazing, and the roasted peppers appetizer is another star. Vegetarians might be disappointed with the Ramen, looks beautiful and tastes good, but few noodles in a shallow bowl.
- SparkieJanuary 20, 2014What to Order: Akamaru Modern ramen, with miso paste, pork chashu, cabbage, sesame kikurage, mushrooms, scallions, and fragrant garlic oil.
- I went here on a Saturday afternoon and was seated right vs. the ling wait at the East Village locale. Great vibe and lives up to the hype. Better than Totto around the block without the wait.
- Most authentic ramen, just like in Japan. Pricey for what it is but you won't be disappointed. Much easier to get a seat than the downtown location too.
- DailyCandyJanuary 14, 2014The noodles at the West Side outpost of NYC’s popular, word-of-mouth ramen darling are just as good as the ones at the East Village original. Tip: Order the Akamaru Modern.
- StephanDecember 30, 2019This place definitely lived up the hype. Super nice, lively and energetic staff with great service. the ramen are amazing.
- MyaFebruary 18, 2018Between chicken buns and the ramen, the food was good, tasty and spicy! The place was quite busy on a Friday night so 1h-wait for a party of 3 and quite noisy somehow
- Ha DiemAugust 16, 2014Totally lived up to their hype. Food came out quick and was so good. Service was AMAZING. They text you when your table is ready, so you can roam around the area while you wait.
- Jacobo GómezSeptember 15, 2016A true 10 out of 10 restaurant. Delicious, authentic, reasonably priced, beautiful, good service, good location. Bravo!
- Dani NedalDecember 12, 2017The pork buns are among the best I've had anywhere. Karaka-men ramen was excellent and just spicy enough. Terrific service and reasonable prices for the location, quality, and style.
