Your lighter will surely be confiscated sooner or later. Don't worry! The airport prepares fixed lighters at each & every smoking room for your own convenience. 😅

The airport is very well facilitated. Free Wi-Fi is easy to connect to (the interface is in English); there are information boards everywhere, and all the announcements are usually on time.

The busiest airport in China with 96 million passengers passing through. Make sure you scan your fingerprints at the kiosk in the terminal and fill out your arrival card before immigration!

T1 is not as fancy-pants as T2, but I prefer the shorter walks and the smaller crowds make immigration and security lines quicker.

An international airport that handles 100 million passengers a year, all of whom have to exit through one of TWO customs baggage scanners at any given time (just for show, of course).

The only airport in the world without convenience stores and fast food restaurants by the gates, only expensive sit-down restaurants, so be sure you bring your own food before going through security!

Fish n chips at Grappas is the best fish n chips I've ever had. It's tender, juicy, and lightly crisped. The tartar sauce is homemade!

Getting the free Wi-Fi to work here is complicated. You need to get a code via SMS or through a Wi-Fi kiosk.

It says one of the best airport in China. But if compares to other cities, here ain’t that convenient... still needs to improve more. The services.. also the subway connections to the airport.

There is terminal 1 and 2, both terminals for international and domestic flight. I had better come early because of long queue at security, immigration and security.:.

Big and efficient. For the 144 hour visa, fill out a blue/white arrival card. Onward ticket on your phone screen is fine.

Good food choices. If you are going elsewhere in Shanghai the metro is great and if the direction is good for you the Maglev train is worth the extra money given the speed.

PVG T2 is where Cathay located, although the lounge is not as great as you can see from other places. If you are a Chinese citizen, with a new passport, border control is super easy.

There's a smoking area in T2 next to Gate D73. Follow the escalator up to the 2nd floor and follow the signs next to the cafe. There are lighters tethered to a box since your own would be confiscated.

PVG airport is the main Shanghai intl' hub. Well connected to the city via subway and maglev train. Quite far though. Land services tend to favor passengers of Chinese carriers (eg, lounges).

This airport breaks every basic rule of smooth people flow. It’s bottleneck after bottleneck. And to think there’s another airport in the same city, under the same authority, that is A+. Mind-boggling.

Chinese people have been treated like cattle for 100 years. Like cattle, those who run, who get somewhere first may get serviced. No respect. They push, run... Just push back, harder! You'll be fine!

Be careful when choosing your next transport to your next destination. An airport shuttle could cost up to RMB650 to go to Shanghai. Choosing local taxis can end you up with a long queue.
