BB is fantastic because not only do they sell new & used, but they also have a great selection of gifts, plus a lecture series! :) As far as Boston area bookstores go, this is hands down my favorite.

Staff super friendly. Selection incomparable. They'll order you a book if you don't see it. trade in paperbacks for credit. search for bargains in the used basement. superb author readings.

The only bookstore comparable to Strand in NYC. Good selection and their bargain tables are worth fishing at. Visit downstairs for the used books. You'll leave with more than you expected.

Downstairs is lower priced as they're used and have loads of great books. I rarely see people in it. It's a hard left from the front door.

The staff downplays lines for readings and signings...if the line forms at 6:00pm and doors open at 6:30, plan to get in line by 5:30pm or you will be disappointed.

Bring in used books Wed.-Sat. (you get more $$ in store credit than just cash.) They are happy to order books for you at no additional cost and have a great jewelry/gift section in the back!
