BU Sailing

The Boston University Dinghy Sailors (BUDS) are the club sailing team at Boston University. We compete at the varsity level with other colleges and universities throughout New England and the United States in both one and two day regattas. The BUDS are in the New England (NEISA) district of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA). Our home waters are on the Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts between the Boston University and Massachusetts Avenue (Harvard) Bridges. We practice in a fleet of eighteen Vanguard Flying Juniors (FJ’s). The BUDS practice on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30PM until about 6:30PM. Our sailing season is in both fall and spring. The Boston University Dinghy Sailors are one of the most successful teams at BU. Since 1980, the team has won seven National titles, numerous Conference and Atlantic Coast Championships, and have produced more All-Americans than any other sport at the university.
