So you're visiting New York for Inman News' Real Estate Connect Conference, but need some places to go outside of the conference hotel? Here's some real local treats for you, all within a few blocks.
1. John's Pizzeria
The Corcoran Group: One of our favorite places to come for a pizza dinner with friends! This huge space is open late. Try a Traditional with Prosciutto and Basil. Fried Calamari is good too!
2. Frankie and Johnnie's Steakhouse
The Corcoran Group: Old school waiters in tuxedos serve delicious steak in a small and unique atmosphere. You must have the potato pancakes.
3. MUJI 無印良品
The Corcoran Group: We love the simple stationary, functional and space-saving house wares and brand-less clothing at this extremely fun Japanese staple.
4. Junior's Restaurant & Bakery
The Corcoran Group: This place is always packed! Skip the meal and go straight for the perfect cheesecake! Dive into a slice of the Original or the Carrot Cake Cheesecake.
5. Shake Shack
The Corcoran Group: There are always lines and believe the hype. Pair a Shack Stack with an order of Cheese Fries and a Fair Shake.
6. Virgil's Real BBQ
The Corcoran Group: Despite the crowds, you won’t wait long to dive into Train Wreck Fries, Virgil’s Pig Out, Corn Bread, Virgil’s Coleslaw and Cheese Grits with a Fall Off The Porch Ice Tea.
The Corcoran Group: Cozy and festive atmosphere serving delicious Middle Eastern food. Try the LambTikka Kebab and the Bulanee Pumpkin.
8. Ruby Foo's
The Corcoran Group: A fun and funky asian fusion restaurant with plates meant for sharing. Try the California Roll (with real crabmeat) and the Kung Pao Chicken.
9. Cafe Un Deux Trois
The Corcoran Group: A great place for pre-theater dinner. Try the prix fixe menu for $28. Try the Pate and the Leg of Lamb.
The Corcoran Group: Definitely try the all you can eat daily pasta specials for only $22.95. Or add the pasta special to your entrée for only $9.
11. Churrascaria Plataforma
The Corcoran Group: Meat lovers heaven! Take it easy on the delicious buffet and leave room for all-you-can-eat meat for $58.95 per person.
12. Cafe Edison
The Corcoran Group: Great place for lunch with one of the best Matzo Ball soups in the city. The French fries and the Split Pea soup aren’t bad either!
13. Carve Unique Sandwiches
The Corcoran Group: Great place if you’re in a hurry or on a budget. Try the Blue Plate Lunchbox, the Fourth of July Picnic or Thanksgiving on a Roll.
14. Victor's Café
The Corcoran Group: Awesome atmosphere and aromas from this delicious Cuban joint. Try the not so cheap pitcher of Sangria and the lobster empanadas.
15. Blue Fin
The Corcoran Group: Enjoy a Blue Fin, Yellowtail Roll and a bowl of Lobster Bisque in a relaxed atmosphere with a casual, sophisticated and mature crowd.
The Corcoran Group: Only come here with a large group as it’s family style and the portions are beyone huge! Try the Rigatoni with Sausage & Broccoli. And save room for dessert.
17. Sushi of Gari 46
The Corcoran Group: If you feel like splurging on the most amazing Sushi, go with the Omakase. The restaurant is small and the service can be a little spotty.
18. Majestic Delicatessen Café
The Corcoran Group: If everything nearby is packed and you’re starving, this is a good choice. You’ll enjoy decent food, with a large seating area upstairs.
19. Galaxy Diner
The Corcoran Group: One of the few remaining greasy spoons in the neighborhood. Enjoy typical diner food with your typical diner service. Great after a late night out.
20. Arriba Arriba
The Corcoran Group: Enjoy delicious Mexican food, and AMAZING Margaritas with a really cool crowd of people and fun waitstaff.
