A beautiful temple with lovely grounds. Go first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds, otherwise it looses some of its spiritual tranquility.

天台宗の寺院で天台三門跡寺院の一。本尊は秘仏の熾盛光如来曼荼羅。比叡山東塔南谷にあった青蓮坊が12代行玄の時、青蓮院となったのに始まる。久安6年 (1150年) 鳥羽院が本坊のほかに白川坊舎を建て、皇子覚快法親王が入寺して以来門跡寺院となる。以後、多くの天台座主を当院から出した。国宝の不動明王二童子像 (青不動)、狩野敦信作の宸殿の障壁画、光厳院はじめ天皇の宸翰消息類など寺宝も多い。

国宝・青不動が有名。ただ優しく導いてくれるというのではなく、諸々の災難や心を悩ませ惑わせるものに、険しい怒りの表情（忿怒相）と、揺るぎない心（不動心）で、毅然と立ち向かう勇気をくれます。青不動が描かれた開運厄除・心願成就、両御守りとも500円。

No es el templo en el que está la Glass Tea House aunque algunas guías den información confusa. Pero la visita al templo es extensa y se puede tomar un té con vistas a los jardines :)

現代作家・木村英輝が描いた華頂殿にある蓮の鮮やかな襖絵が見物。何故か、そのロックでポップな蓮の絵は、この落ち着いた古刹の襖によく似合う。
