It can be busy on weekends. Bring a blanket & sit under a tree. There are only port-a-pottys here & they are nasty! Bring your own toilet paper & hand sanitizer (there are usually none of either).

Spectacular views of planes flying into Reagan National Airport. The park is adjacent to the runway, so you are directly underneath the planes landing. Can't miss this exhilarating experience !
Hands down best spot to watch landing aircraft, river traffic, sunsets, the DC skyline. It's a marvelous relaxation spot!!

Will LonghiniJuly 31, 2013Make sure you check the weather to see which way the wind is blowing. As cool as seeing planes take off, it's even cooler to watch them fly over your head and land.
Good place to watch planes take off and land at National Airport, but stay off the trail unless you want to get (deservedly) run over by a bike or runner.

Bike ride+picnic =perfect!
