- Todd KunaMay 12, 2017Bavette's is actually BYOB. The unwritten rule is that you can bring a bottle of wine without any corkage fee, but you must share one glass of your wine with another patron, which we benefited from!
- Sarp ErkayaMay 7, 2016Trendy spot, friendly service, amazing food! Fillet is cut perfectly and cooked just right. 👏🏼 get the mac&cheese and the corn! Start w oysters and pair it all with a martini! 🍸Perfect dinner 🙌🏼
- Ashley RoseMay 24, 2019All around excellent experience. Super seductive downstairs vibe, love the bench seating, leisurely service (come here to relax not to speed dine) and OMG dry aged Rib Eye. Fun corkage policy.
- Wayne AndermanAugust 25, 2017Garlic Shrimp De Jonghe in herbs & sherry. Filet on bone, roasted marrow, & crab stuffed avocado...Perfect for couples, foursomes or singles - Eat & drink downstairs bar great speakeasy feel! 10+!
- Amy CummingsApril 16, 2023This was legitimately one of the best meals I have ever had. The steak frites were absolutely delicious. And don’t skip on dessert. The chocolate cream pie was to die for.
- Yagmur KAugust 23, 2016Tongue and bone marrow were fabulous, I really liked the filet mignon too but if you like your meat moist and very pinky in the center you should go with rare instead of medium rare.
- Emily HJune 16, 2023Everything we had was amazing. Baked goat cheese and crab cake were phenomenal starters. Bacon roasted tomato salad was the best bacon I’ve ever had. Truffle Mac and cheese was A+. Filet was fabulous
- Trevor SmytheNovember 17, 2015Have a bourbon old fashioned and enjoy the best pork chop in the city. If you don't have a reservation you can eat at the bar (or wait for a table if you have a couple hours to kill).
- Jon B.May 6, 2021The porterhouse for two was perfect: for the cost of a fillet and NY Strip, you get both but also 40-day aged. Also tried the truffle Mac and cheese this time, and that was dynamite.
- JenKuduNovember 13, 2017Ambiance, service, food are all A+. The sweet potato is so simple but so damn good. The aged ribeye is worth the splurge. Such a great find :)
- Stacy Bo BacyMarch 9, 2020This is the place to go to treat yourself to a spectacular, outrageously delicious steak. The ambiance and service are out of this world. I always enter in awe and leave with a smile on my face.
- Chicago TribuneAugust 1, 2014The beef stroganoff is terrific; the house-made pasta is richly eggy and arrives at the table al dente; the short-rib meat on top, glazed with sherry jus, is so tender thanks to a 10-hour braise.
- Shawn McDanielAugust 20, 2015Best steak I've ever had, everything was cooked to a new standard of perfection. Their exemplary list of cocktails contained classics like the Vesper and Mint Julep, both made phenomenally.
- Christopher FlossNovember 24, 2014Babette's is a hidden gem! It offers a diverse menu with a classic, home-cooked meal flair. The bread is amazing too! It's a great place to go for dinner or to enjoy a cocktail at the bar.
- Always add bone marrow to your dish! Smoked whitefish Caesar salad is a must. Classic American food, speak easy, jazzy vibe. Nice cocktails. Love this place + staff. Consistency is key. They have it!
- Renaissance HotelsOctober 16, 2012The bone-in filet is pretty spectacular, its buttery-soft meat perfectly seasoned, best rare and barely singed by the flame. Try their Old-Fashioned too – it’s one of the best cocktails in Chicago. Read more
- Jeremy CNovember 22, 2014Get the tomato app with bacon. It is killer tasty. Great wine list, bar service and of course entrees. If you haven't been here before try the steak frites.
- Time Out ChicagoMay 6, 2013Diners need not be huge steak fans to get a good meal; in fact, as good as the steak frites is, both the fried and roasted chicken are even better. http://tmoutchi.us/10esgeQ Read more
- Philip TamSeptember 15, 2017Great atmosphere and attentive service. Can get crowded at night so do try to make a reservation. Cocktails are well made, especially if you enjoy whisky.
- Laurie DubnowMarch 31, 2017Baked crab cake, oysters, bacon roasted tomato salad, short rib beef stroganoff, steak frites, and chocolate cream pie! Can't wait to go back!!
- Elizabeth OOctober 9, 2013Magical interiors and probably the best meal of my life. The steak was so good that I might as well giving up all other meat -- nothing compares anymore! Worth the wait.
- Kelly 🍰August 31, 2014Bone-in ribeye medium rare, elote corn, shrimp cocktail, crab cake, French fries, whiskey sundae, several cocktails = elite
- SergeyJune 8, 2019Very nice place for dates. In-bone fillet is the must, best I ever had. Great bar. Stuff is very pleasant. Book the table in advance
- I don’t normally suggest this but sit at the bar. Bartenders are really above and beyond with service. Salads are a surprise star of the show. Dry aged option didn’t add that much to the experience.
- Rick BendixApril 29, 2019The small filet is melt-in-your-mouth outstanding. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.
- KristinApril 21, 2013Don't overlook the side dishes. They are all amazing (especially the corn and hashbrowns) and the portions are large enough to share.
- We've been twice. The corn side is amazing. It's nice they have smaller size steaks that my wife can order and also bigger ones for myself.
- Phil WatsonMay 4, 2019The drinks are good enough to justify the prices and the atmosphere (dark as hell + wood + leather) makes this a good after-work drink spot.
- Lauren MeadeJuly 4, 2014Spring for the dry aged beef- it's the best steak I've ever eaten, and my favorite item on the menu. Enough for 2 people for sure!
- Lee HoffmanOctober 21, 2019Everything was incredible - burger, steak, broccoli, fries, chocolate Oreo cake - amazing
- Mary AlesandriniAugust 10, 201510: We were blown away by everything we had that evening, and the prices were very good. Our server was also on point. Great evening!
- OliviaJanuary 18, 2013I looooooooved it! Pleased with service, top notch drinks, you can't go wrong with any food choice. Mix of vintage and modern interior designs- fantastic.
- Dan DarcyOctober 14, 2013Prime dry aged bone in rib eye is amazing. The Maine lobster plate is also an incredible appetizer
- My favorite restaurant in Chicago 👌🏼 Can't go wong with a steak and or their cocktails.
- Jack HallApril 23, 2013The peppered duck and goat cheese terrine is fantastic(pictured). Also get the veal cheeks and thick cut bacon.
- Megan RobertsonDecember 23, 2013The corn is amazing! Surprisingly my fave item of the night. Crab cakes, beef stroganoff, and steak were excellent as well. Highly recommend.
- SHAWNA PAugust 20, 2015Great atmosphere, great dining selections & spirits! I don't think there is one subpar dish on the menu! SERIOUSLY!! #Enjoy #GreatChoice
- Jeff CarterApril 15, 2016Had the Bavette steak. It is not the best in Chicago which I believe is at La Sardine or Le Bouchon. Sit in The Parlor downstairs
- ben mNovember 8, 2014Of course, the steaks are great but start with the wedge and enjoy that thick cut bacon. Also, get a side of the corn.
- Alexandros PlexidasDecember 6, 2014Delicious fillet mignon steak and great list of wines to choose from. I really liked the decoration and the ambience.
- Ogi KavazovicJuly 31, 2021Dry aged ribeye is overrated, don’t order it. Bread is amazing, atmosphere is amazing. Raw at solid. I’d order wagyu special next time
- Deb Dietz WarnerDecember 10, 2017By far the best steak restaurant in Chicago. Also try the seafood tower if you are with a group!!
- Margaret CodyMarch 27, 2014Awesome BYO policy. If you BYO, no corkage fee but you have to share a glass of wine with someone else in the restaurant.
- Best restaurant in all of Chicago. Dinner, drinks, service, all things exceed my expectations. What are you waiting for?
- Vanessa SosaJanuary 9, 2016What can I can, always on point with food drinks and service! Waiting 3 months for a res is s bit ridiculous but.....
