- Fluying ✅December 7, 2015If you go in the late afternoon just before sunset you will finds lots of girls wearing traditional clothes. If you are polite probably they will love to smile for your picture.Upvoted 4 days ago
- Yohan Gabriel LiutamaNovember 28, 2017Beautiful shrine lit up with a line of lanterns. Not as big as Kiyomizu-Dera temple, but has it’s charm. There are also hawkers at the entrance selling local delicacies!Upvoted 1 week ago
- The Ritz-CarltonAugust 31, 2016Yasaka Shrine is a bustling, colorful and pleasant downtown shrine that lies at the heart of much of Kyoto's festive tradition, including the famous Gion Matsuri.
- Scott InglesAugust 23, 2018Large shrine complex, nice oasis in the middle of the city. Beautiful at night, but feels weirdly overdeveloped, almost more like an Epcot exhibit than a traditional Japanese shrine.
- Brian BimschlegerNovember 4, 2017Easy to find location, as it’s a straight line from the Nishiki Market. Come hungry: when we were there, there were lots of street food vendors in the area.
- The Ritz-CarltonOctober 24, 2014Long connected with the Kyoto Geisha community centered in the nearby Gion District, Yasaka-jinja Shrine is a bustling, colorful and pleasant downtown shrine.
- Yacine ByaMay 3, 2016I recommend really to go up to the top! Just amazing way and less crapped than until the 1st panorama point! Amazing area!
- EmanOctober 23, 2015The most beautiful shrine I ever seen. There are many scenery and gardens inside. You can walk, relax and have a snack.
- Celine AJanuary 20, 2016Around the corner, the geishas are hounded by paparazzi. If you're going there, please don't engage in that practice.
- Sofia PapastamelosApril 10, 2018Beautiful shrine right at the end of the major road in Gion. See the shrine then walk through the park or get some food in Gion.
- Raven AmosNovember 10, 2019Larger than my expectations. I'm lucky to meet a street vendor gathering at Saturday similar like the night market of Taiwan.
- Lisa StarbucksApril 1, 2017It's super busy. There are lots of food stalls around. Overall, the atmosphere was more like on a funfair which made me feel weird since I'd expected a shrine.
- Not as nice as Heian Shrine but a good place to check out if you are already in Gion
- EricMay 14, 2016Party here for new year's eve or come at night for a quiet stroll. Geishas often seen nearby coming to or going from work.
- David CalhounMay 20, 2011Go around to the back entrance for a nice place to rest in the park. You may even catch a glimpse of a neighborhood cat!
- VallyriApril 11, 2023This is a must! Beautiful and they have beautiful sakura trees. Try and go to one of their festivals!
- Don't eat in the restaurants with tables under the trees. It's a tourist trap. They'll charge 800 yen per beer and 400 yen per bowl of rice. Fucking expensive ambiance
- MidoriFebruary 23, 2010I went there with my friend 2 years ago for hatsu-moude, then we made fight last year.. Bitter memory. Have to go there and pray for her.
Upvoted 1 week ago
