One of my favorite museums and there is no admission fee. This is truly one of our country's treasures. Wear comfy shoes and allow yourself plenty of time. The free app adds so much. Bring headphones.

It's a large museum with a large international variety of art. Exquisite portraits of American Presidents and a large collection of Rembrandt's make this a must see for anyone trolling around the mall

Among the countless masterpieces to enjoy there is the only Leonardo da Vinci work of art in the western hemisphere. Called "Ginerva de' Benci" it is an earlier work of the genius.

Take the tunnel between the East and West buildings - best gift shop ever below the West building, and a super fun installation along the walkway on the East side! Also a cafe, rest area, etc.

Interesting collection, part of it is from famous artists like Monet, Botticelli, Rembrandt... Takes some time to see it all, wish the closing time was later than it is.

Of all the exhibits, don't leave without checking out the East Building, which houses the modern collection. Great art around every corner. And the architecture itself is worth multiple Instagrams.

Like most other DC museums, free entrance makes up for the ridiculous prices at the cafés. However, do pay a visit to the café here if only to take the underground passageway to the East Building.
