We are the 2nd oldest restaurant in Boston and the longest consecutively running tradition in the city.
Def go to sing along with Mel (on Friday nights!) the best way to kick off your weekend. Cheap pitchers, meh bar food
Huge selection of beers, awesome margaritas. Saturday nights are fun with the sing-a-long piano sessions :)
Best bar ever, you can sing while you are drinking that's is a party!!!! SING-ALONG WITH MEL.
Don't go here for the food - it is as far from German food as Your local Chinese take-out is original Chinese cuisine. Tried the jäger schnitzel and the sauerbraten - both mediocre.
Love the fried chicken blt. The warm chipotle turkey sandwich is amazing too. For beer get the speak easy baby daddy session IPA or the Jake's house Lager.
One of the oldest pubs

Come for the beer, stay for the terrible piano.
The Reuben sticks are incredible.
The coleslaw was delicious. Had a decent beer selection, and the live entertainment was fun. Check the place out.
A legendary Boston restaurant which badly needs a reboot. Standard American fare with some German dishes is pretty good. The sing alongs are fun too.
Fantastic and authentic good!
Great place to get some beers and brats while catching a soccer game. I recommend the sauerbraten and schnitzel sandwich.
Fantastic selection of beer, and not all German! Service also fantastic. Our guy was from Nepal and I'd be hard pressed to remember a better waiter in all of Boston.
$1 root beer floats are great for your underage friends.
Looks like time stopped here. Definitely my favorite German place in Boston. One small thing: I suppose the level of service could be a little bit better. The food is really delicious though.
The Reuben, cornbread and beer-battered mozzarella sticks were fantastic!
Amazing craft beer (and German beer) selection here!
Have a Leffe brown. You can't find it anywhere else
they have lindemans peche and framboise lambic! 'nuff said.
beer battered mozzarella sticks. (discovered at phantom gourmet's food fest), even better at the restaurant!
The smell of German food and beer is good. Reminds me of when I enjoyed such fare. Thirty years ago.
Great service even on a Saturday night. Clam chowder and cornbread is an epic meal on the cheap.
Oder a pint of Jacob's beer and a pretzel appetizer! Go on a night they have a piano sing-a-long for extra fun.
Pretzels are a great appetizer. Mixed grill makes a tasty lunch or dinner.
The wurst are the best!
schofferhofer grapefruit hefeweizen
Great restaurant in the heart of Boston! Live piano on Friday nights is brilliant fun! Traditional German food and beers as well as regular dishes. Cannot recommend enough!
Crowded and constantly busy, but in this case that's part of the appeal. Huge selection of beer and great food, but the service can be slow at times.
The atmosphere is great without it but the live music adds a certain charm to the place.
Their small plates versions of bigger dishes are pretty hefty.
Service slow, lazy and didn't care. Good beer selection
Incredible beer selection! And grab a pretzel while you're throwing one back.
There's no UFO Pumpkin here
The piano player, Mel is awesome -- what a character! Tip him well.
If you like opera singing they do that here.
Duvel on tap? What more can you ask for?
If you're willing to spend a little extra on a beer, try the Aventinus - it's phenomenal.
Nice place with good food and a selection of 45 kinds of draft beer.
Please pull the inner door to as you enter and exit in wintertime. Also, don't sit at the door end of the bar.
Morgan White trivia every Mon & Wed!!
Great atmosphere, excellent service. The beer is tops...fresh and crisp. Too bad they close at 9 pm (Monday).
They'll often have beers not listed on any menu. Make sure to ask if they have anything special on tap.
Excellent German food. The German mixed grill was fantastic. Fish and chips were very good as well. Beer selection is great!
The wursts are the best!
THEY HAVE ROOT BEER FLOATS. FOR $1 EACH. They also have Guinness Floats for $5.
