Try the cold brew. Seriously, try it
Get here early. No reservations and a 90 minute wait is a tough way to spend a Saturday night
Don't bother with the pretzel bun and 1/2 burger. The bun feels stale and falls apart too easily. On a smaller burger it might be ok.
Try the bruschetta burrata with the carciofini. It's a great happy hour appetizer.
If the weather is nice (and this is San Diego, so that's pretty much all the time) try sitting out in the garden area out back. It's very pleasant with a glass of wine and great food.
Hard to pick 1 item to try but the pork belly burrito or the shrimp tacos are outstanding.
Great coffee spot with free wifi and relaxing music to chill to. Nice respite during comic con.
Shakey service but the wings are good. Come if you're not in a hurry. Lots of sauce options
Been here so many times. Service is ... shakey. I think it's due to the food, but I've never had a problem where an order was wrong or things I asked for (no beans) didn't happen. It's just slow.
Try the mega slices if you love NY style pizza. One of the better slices in town.
Menu varies daily but they do have some usual items. Go early to make sure you can try the specials which are typically great and rare.
If crab cakes aren't your thing, the Brooklyn burger is great. Or try a lobster or shrimp roll. But seriously, try the crab cakes.
There is too much good stuff here to really suggest one. Being friends along and try different Sammy's, you won't be disappointed.
