Named for Sir John Berkeley (1602-1678), co-proprietor of NJ from 1664-1674. Berkeley was one of the drafters of the Concession and Agreement, which provided freedom of religion in the Province of NJ.

Named for Eugene Connett, who had roughly seven acres of land around Connett Place. From 1894 to 1896, he was Village President. He donated some of his land to be used for the South Orange Library.
Named for Charles Fielding, an active member of the board of the South Orange Methodist Episcopal Church, Fielding Ct. was developed in the 1920s and featured cozy homes just right for new families.
An 1890 map of So Orange shows the 8 acres that is now the park as subdivided into 43 lots. The land was owned by Washington Life Ins Co, whose president, William A Brewer Jr, owned Old Stone House.

Named for Henry B. Halsey, a 3-term South Orange Village Trustee and Secretary/Treasurer of the H.B Halsey Company, lumber dealers. Halsey died during an appendicitis operation on April 3, 1909.

Henry M. Keasbey, Vice President and General Manager of the National Fireproofing Company, was a pioneer in the fireproofing industry. The Keasbey estate, "Holmwood," is located on Berkeley Ave.
Named for Thomas S. Kingman who pioneered the development of the 150-acre Montrose Park area. His goal was to provide homes for wealthy men who had not the time or inclination to build on their own.
Like Marshall School, named for James Marshall, a Board of Education member and resident of Montrose Park.

Raymond Court was built on the former estate of Robert Ward, one of the founding members of the Meadow Land Society which purchased 23 acres from Edwin Mead in 1889 that is today's Meadowland Park.
Built c.1895, this was the home of Thomas and Anna Kingman, one of the major developers of Montrose Park, for whom Kingman Ave. is named. It is now known as the George M. Ring Building of Seton Hall.

Named for Edward Self, who was South Orange Village President from1888 to 1889. He lived on a farm in close proximity to Seton Hall and supplied the university with dairy products.

Named for Adm. Edwin Stewart, Paymaster General in the US Navy from 1890 until he retired in 1899, with the rank of Rear Admiral. Stewart owned a home on Stewart Ave (the Randolph) and Scotland Rd.
Built by Village President Ira A. Kip Jr. and his wife, Katherine, the home, modeled on Haddon Hall in England, was completed in 1903. The home featured a ballroom and Louis XVI drawing room.
George B. Turrell (1825-1905), Village Pres. and Montrose Park resident, was instrumental in securing a charter for the Village and helped modernize roads, street lights and drainage in South Orange.
Along with nearby Seton Pl. and College Pl., University Ct. is named for Seton Hall University, the oldest diocesan university in the United States.
