No pizza, no beer - and they mean it.
Somehow, when it comes time to checkout, this place is always on the verge of anarchy...could use a few extra staffers...
Mish mash soup. Delicious. HUGE. The glass bowl it comes in is a monstrosity. Approximately 2.3x bigger than your head.
Love this place, love Leslie. Small shop, high quality cuts and great conversation for $25. If that's not enough for you, the sink is usually filled with ice and bottles of Miller Lite.
Serviceable indoor basketball court for rent at $60/hour. On Sunday afternoons, it's accompanied by the sweet sounds of the African dance class / drum corps in the gym next door...
If you have a masochistic side, try weekend Body Pump with Jimmy - and don't be shy about loading up on the weights.
New favorite Mexican joint in Chicago. Tiny, cash only, no reservations - cool vibe. Mostly small plates, so I'll list my three fave - pork short ribs, grilled shrimp, and empanadas.
Fantastic brunch. Well constructed bloody marys. Go for the classic Irish breakfast - bangers, rashers, and other Irish deliciousness.
Tons of great restaurants nearby on Halsted - HB Home Bistro, FireFly, Yoshi's etc. Grab dinner at one these fine establishments then pick up a flick at the 'box on the way home - perfect date night.
Classic dive bar atmosphere. Beer in plastic pitchers. And absolutely INSANE king crab legs. Save the bed of white bread and fries for the end - after they've soaked up the delicious butter sauce.
Generally mediocre office tower cafe...but if you're in the building for a meeting, check out the rotating "international" offering. They do a mean pork verde.
