Welcome to Strand Book Store, New York City's legendary home of 18 Miles of new, used and rare books. Since 1927.
You can spend all-day long over there, browsing books. Well, I could actually spend my life over there : )
bookstore for book people
Amazing selection and a great place to spend the afternoon browsing books
A NYC staple. Worth checking out for the experience more than actual book shopping.
Possibly the greatest bookstore in the world, full stop.
The ambience. I feel like i am in another world.
Computer / Technology books are on the basement level
Check out the collection of art and book themed socks in the middle of the 1st floor
Great variety of cheap books, and cool tote bags, t-shirts, and hoodies
In a corner of the Rare Book Room, you’ll find a little hallway of bibliographies and art books. The first few shelves have bargain leathers, where you can get a book older than our country for $6.
Go to the basement cashier for quicker checkout than the ground floor cashier!
The line moves faster than it looks even at peak holiday, and a book in one of their signature totes is a can't-fail gift option.
Quintessential NYC. Go to Strand on a Sunday, post brunch and get lost in the thousands of books.
I love this book store is one of my favorites just because they have out of print books and there's a little bit of everything in there I go all the time 😁
My favorite book store I always go here and what I love about it more is that the prices are really good and there's knew books and used books. I
The scifi section is literally ceiling-high, and the store is enormous. A must visit for bookworms.
Local landmark bookshop. Very old, very warm feeling. Great deals on books here!
Bring with you a lot of time and an open mind. Like someone said let the book choose you.
Excellent for finding something that Amazon wouldn't think to recommend
Strand feels more like a library than a bookstore. There are so many books here. And if you're looking for souvenirs, I would recommend the book tote bags. Tons of cool designs as well.
Excellent place for gifts for all occasions. Including a 'treat yo self" gift occasion.
Everyone's experience - customer: 'this is far fetched but do you have French children's books?' - clerk: 'of course! let me show you!' - then walk to entire WALL of French children's books.
Beeeewks! They sure love their books here.
A New York institution! Great deals on new and used books. Make sure to check out the discount racks outside.
Rare books, used books, discounts and selections are all in one place.
Possibly my favorite bookstore in the city. Always has what I'm looking for - and usually a good condition used book for a good price.
An absolute must-visit for book lovers! Incredibly helpful staff!
Can get crowded, but an unbelievable selection and great staff
DO NOT SELL YOUR BOOKS HERE.The Strand has a new policy on buying books. Once you walked through their door they own your books and pay you whatever they wish after their 'appraisal' Nasty.
Watch out when getting in, it might be you will not come out.
If you get the chance, go to the rare book floor and touch some old things. Bathroom on the 3rd floor is on my list of relatively clean public restrooms in New York City.
New releases, old books you won't find anywhere else at a good price. It's a calm and friendly environment and the staff is very helpful. If you love books this is the place to buy them.
$1 books, used and rare.
This is a great place
You could live here. So many books!!! Staff is so nice and you can always find a book.
If you are patient and look closely, you may find a $2 gem in the book shelves outside.
Order used titles online and pick them up in just a few days.
My favorite bookstore anywhere. Just enough of a treasure hunt for great titles on the tables with a complete collection in the stacks to make it fun!
Neighborhood staple. A book lover's paradise.
Wander around, look at the book tables, bump into something better than what you were looking for.
