Best places to enjoy a bit of grass and a bit of space to read and think, focused on Manhattan.
1. The Garden at St. Luke in the Fields
@sloane: Impress your friends, a date or out of town guests with this gem. Note: closed on Sundays!
2. Washington Square Park
Taylor: I once saw a woman chalk a note to the famous pigeon man on the ground where he always sits. The note said "Dear sir ... I think you're lovely."
3. Brooklyn Heights Promenade
4. Bryant Park
Taylor: One of my favorite places to watch NYC walk by. Sit in one of the chairs on the grass, take your shoes off, and enjoy the yoga, the movies, or the boundless energy of the city, hiding in public.
5. High Line
Taylor: The High Line is a place to walk, to people watch, to watch the sunset perched above the streets, but at the right times (and at the right benches), it can be a great place to sit and think.
6. Central Park
Taylor: Tons of friction of lives in motion, but plenty of space to find your own spot to read and think.
7. Hudson River Park
8. 6BC Botanical Community Garden
Taylor: Small and hidden, but when it's open and you can find a space, great place to savour the gardens and think.
9. Creative Little Garden
10. Elevated Acre
