Unbelievable pork belly. Literally melts in your mouth
If you're not the lunch-at-11, dinner-at-6 sort of person, forget about anything but a sandwich. They run out of salad/hot bar food by 12:30pm.
ARRRGH I LOVE YOU BUT YOU'RE ALWAYS TOO CROWDED
Phenomenal selection of small batch liquors and various bitters. Don't miss the really excellent deals under the stairs - the true bargains in the store.
Insane lines (especially for the bathroom) and really spotty wifi, but somehow, miracles happen and it's easier than you'd think to get a seat.
Some of the best deli meats and cold cuts in the area. Classic small-town grocery store.
Phenomenal selection and great at helping find just the right Monte Nebro to fit in between your hard Gruyeres and your French triple-cremes. (Also, try the Monte Nebro.)
Absolutely phenomenal. Hands down the best foie gras of my life.
Thanks a lot, Sean. Way to ensure that the secret's out and that section of the train the most crowded.
Don't let the clientele or the screaming children with families fool you - Ivar's has some very delicious food. If it's on the menu, try the smoked salmon orecchiette.
Tater tots, burgers, and small batch bourbons are sublime. If Liz is your waitress, be sure to tip her real well. But watch out for interns - they're loud, boorish, and can't handle their liquor.
Get a half-dozen oysters and a beer and sit at the table outside. Perfection.
Every single line is fifteen deep for subpar meats and produce. Please please please put a teeter harris in here.
The Hall of Transportation remains my favorite exhibit in this museum. Of particular note: the 1950s-era Chicago El Train car.
