After years of planning, the museum opened in 1990 in the old San Jose convention center. In 1998 it opened in a larger 3 floor venue where it holds four major theme galleries and an IMAX theatre.
Check out the Jet Pack simulator, then go the RadioShack at 779 Story Road and get some So Right stuff to try to build your own.
The Star Wars exhibit is great. You can see the original costumes, models, behind the scenes videos and learn about the physics of Star Wars.
The BODY WORLDS EXHIBIT comes to the Tech Museum every 3-5 years. It's amazing and probably the only reason for me to visit this venue!
1st Wed of the month After Hour nights for adults only featuring bands, games & run of the whole museum. IMAX & special exhibits anytime give you & your family a great Silicon Valley experience.
Visit the earthquake simulator and play around with the virtual interactive stuff. Don't be ashamed if you're an adult doing kids' science stuff. It's fun!
Check out Star Wars exhibit until February 2014!
Focused on inspiring the innovator in everyone it reaches, with truly hands-on and interactive exhibits, divided among themed galleries.
Check out the Star Trek Exhibition!
Got kids? Gotta' go to The Tech. Just a big kid at heart? Gotta' get to The Tech.
On the second floor there's a robot that draws your picture. Take your picture at the computer console, then the robot picks up real pens and draws your picture in paper that you can keep.
Star Trek Exhibit Awesome!
Avoid parking at Cityview Parking across Park Ave. The Tech doesn't validate and max price is $25.
Star Wars exhibit was great, but the simulator is just not worth the wait. It's just a flyby of the solar system in low res with no motion. Then they throw on a few GameCube X-Wings at the end.
A lot of money for the chance to watch carloads of school kids frantically push buttons
Highly recommended for children of all ages!
The Mythbusters exhibit is great.
The infinite creativity exhibit is awesome! Takes finger painting to a new level.
Star trek costumes are awesome!
Honestly I was excited to go but not blown away from this place. Outdated exhibits and not as fun as I thought it would be
Unfortunately being told it's a one hour wait for the millineum falcon attraction :(
Active duty and veterans with VA cards get in free!!!
A very enjoyeable day! The exhibitions are interactive and fun, not just for kids!
The 3D printers and social robots artifacts are downstairs in the new 'Tech Studio'
We got in for free because our Museum of life and science membership reciprocated
Fun venue for parties. We had one of our high school proms here
The IMAX dome screen is awesome...this is the first time I haven't slept through a documentary!
I like the free feature with admission. Also, the Islam exhibit is both tasteful & educational.
The Islamic Science Exhibit is really interesting
1st wednesday of every month is "After Hours" from 6-11pm...they sell alcohol and food and have a band playing on the roof. check it out!
Check out the bodys exhibit
Check out the smoker's LEG in the Body Worlds Vital exhibit.
Wish they had more stuff to look at the Ghegis Khan exhibit.
Only for kids
The costumes are awesome!
Head straight upstairs and bring lots of hand sanitizer!
The Millennium Falcon exhibit isn't bad (for an extra $5), but not worth it if you have to wait more than 10 min. It's a movie on a dome in what looks like the ship's cockpit.
Once a month they do a special After Hours event. Adults only, drinks, food, music, and exhibits with no kids under foot and fellow tech/science fans all around. Definitely worth checking out.
love star wars
Best place for kids.
