Splendid place to visit (it's a must in Bangkok) but the tour can be unpleasant when there's too many people. 500 baht per person, totally worth it!

We went with a tour group. The Thai lunch is Halal (except the fried rice) and pretty good. The shows were quite fun - loved the sets and the special effects. Excellent coconut water & bubble tea.

You have to do the guided tour, which is slow and the guide tells you the same that you've already read on the descriptions on the walls. Overall, nice and modern museum with film, projections etc.
Route 2 exhibition is cute until the end when the royal propaganda begins. I would have much preferred to check out the skyroom without going through the 2 hour tour.

Spring some cash & get a hotel car & spend the day at Muang Boran (Ancient City) or Ayutthaya. You can see so much more with a car/driver than you can on a bus tour.
