The so called culinary capitol of the US (California) has made foie gras illegal. So come on over to Sanford in Milwaukee and enjoy their Squab and Foie Gras appetizer.
Special occasion place. Food art. The sauces, salad, cheese plate, Pear tart, all heavenly. I can see why it comes up as a best restaurant in Milwaukee, especially if you lean toward seafood.

The rustic French food is a delight, with openers such as changing charcuterie like intensely rich duck rillettes, and coquille St. Jacques, the scallops sweet among artichoke, fennel and olives.
Duckling breast with chorizo and orange is juicy and tender, the flavors in harmony. The flatiron steak with crisp fries and shallot butter is an admirable rendition of steak frites.

Most unfriendly place I've ever been to. I guess they embraced the French attitude of being stuck up snobs. Hostess lied to us about seating us. Gave our table to 'regulars' who walked in.
Try the "Black Bubbles" sparkling syrah, I haven't seen it any where else. Also the coconut curry chocolates are addicting. Great place to wind down on a Friday or Saturday evening.
